The Mets desperately need Matz back, but they have to make sure he gets up to speed. If he isn’t stretched out the Mets are gonna actually kill their already beleaguered bullpen

He won’t be MLB ready and they don’t think it matters. They’re not going to stretch him out either. “TC” will be sure to try to milk him, regardless of it affects his well being. Mets stubborn fans just need to research his track record for burning out young talent.
As for the bullpen, they don’t care about these pitchers either. So follow the team motto, “suck it up so the manager can become the team’s all time leader in wins”.

Joseph – how is 5 IP from Matz worse than Milone or even a typical Wheeler start?
Say Hey Now Kid
Yeah Mets fans need to slow down. There will probably not be a huge turnaround and the last thing we need is to rush Matz back in hope that we start contending.
Besides, this team can still be competitive after this year so no reason to panic like it’s now or never. The Mets just need to add 1 or 2 veteran arms this offseason to ease the pressure on the young arms they keep overworking
