By Mike Axisa | February 12, 2010 at 5:46pm CDT

We'll keep track of any players that avoid arbitration today here…

  • The Orioles and Jeremy Guthrie have agreed to a one-year $3MM deal, according to Jeff Zrebiec and Dan Connolly of the Baltimore Sun. Guthrie receives $100K for winning the Cy Young Award. He also earns $50K for finishing second or third in the Cy Young voting and the same amount for making the All Star team, winning World Series MVP, ALCS MVP or a Gold Golve

    Andy McPhail to Jeremy Guthrie:

“Jeremy, If you sport another 5.00 ERA, you can expect a lot more one year deals throughout your career.”

I hope Guthrie bounces back. If he’s on and in his ’08 form, The O’s have some rotation.

The O’s should trade this guy while they still can.

What are they going to get for him? Another filler player? Our team is young enough and we need some vets to relieve some pressure off of these youngings.

Several teams apparently inquired about Jeremy Guthrie this offseason and tried to lowball us.

There should be a page that has all of the free agents after the 2011 season.

With the O’s luck, now that he is on a one year deal he’ll come back and have a season where he ends up in Cy Young voting.

he still has 1 or 2 arb years. if he posts even a 3.50 ERA, I don’t think it’s out of the question that we could extend him for several years (assuming his salary demands are reasonable). he’s not straight up old like Kevin Millwood (who is a free agent after this season anyway), but he has proven to be durable and we will probably want at least one experienced innings-eater regardless of how good we think we can be in 2011.

This is ths stupidest thing I have ever read. How would this be bad for the O’s? Peter angelos loses 100 grand if Guthrie turns into a monster….Im pretty sure even he is down with that.
