The Mariners are expected to bring up top prospect Colt Emerson to the big-league squad, reports Ryan Divish of the Seattle Times. The 20-year-old shortstop is among the highest-ranked young players in the sport. Divish adds in a follow-up post that Emerson is expected to arrive at T-Mobile Park before a Sunday Night Baseball matchup against the Padres.
Emerson fell short of an MLB gig out of Spring Training, despite a 111 wRC+ in 18 games. The 20-year-old has slashed .255/.347/.469 through 38 games at Triple-A this season. He’s popped seven home runs to go with 10 stolen bases.
Seattle inked Emerson to an eight-year, $95MM extension in late March. The price tag is a record figure for a player who has yet to appear in the majors.
More to come…

Yes!!!!!!!!
LET’S GOOOOO!!!
I do not look forward to facing Emerson in the future. Mariner fans seem quite happy and makes sense why: he’s VERY good
Oh hey just like how everyone hated facing Bregman, Altuve, and Correa for way too frickin long!
And so it begins…..
Colt Emerson right now:

Oh brother here we go
His last 10 games have been much better than the first month+. Hopefully he’ll hit the ground running.
Finally! I’m glad we’re trying to spark something and give the team more life. I’ve seen enough of Rivas as essentially an everyday player. He’s a cool dude and plays hard, but he isn’t a real big leaguer. I’d be very surprised if Emerson isn’t more valuable almost immediately.
Too bad the team can’t hit the ground running they aren’t that good…
.255 isn’t all that impressive in the PCL. Hopefully this puts a spark in the team. Good opportunity to face some warm big league arms.
