It kinda makes one wonder they didn’t just give him away for salary relief before he got hurt earlier in the season when Boston was looking for a catcher and still unsure if Salty was the answer, instead they hung onto this career backup and paid him almost 6m.

I think it’s going to be tough for the Cardinals to sign Furcal and Berkman without giving up the money they’ll need to resign Pujols. I’d only expect both to get resigned if they both give St. Louis a discount. Otherwise, one might get signed, but not both.
