The Dodgers would probably like to have Rivera back next year as well. Do you think he expects to be paid?

Yeah pretty sure the players’ association wouldn’t let him play for free.

These types of articles are boring. Of course he is going to say he likes LA, and wants to stay there next season. If he said the opposite, than that would be news.
No one is going to be negative to the team they are currently on, right before being a FA. That is just one more team out of the mix to bring up your price tag.

Notice the consipuious lack of comments on this story from Dodger fans. These days, if they don’t have a reason bash Ned, they’ve got nothing to say.

… yet despite the lack of comments, you still manage to use this as a forum to attack Dodger fans who have negative opinions of Ned. Good job! 😉
Perhaps the lack of comments is due to Juan Rivera being an entirely insignificant league average player, and this article lacking pretty much any substance? His acquisition was never going to be a difference maker in the Dodgers 2011 season, and really made little sense with the Dodgers clearly out of contention. Are we supposed to get excited about the possibility of bringing him back in 2012? He’s only had one above average season in the last 5 years (2009), and he’s not exactly young anymore…
In addition, the free agent market for 1B and corner outfield spots are fairly strong, with far better options than Rivera.

Sometimes silence says more than words, and this is one of those cases. Just look at all the contortions you’ve put yourself through to avoid admitting that this pickup was not a mistake.
