Perhaps they’re simply trying to grab another strong righty, somebody to fill the role that Mejia and Parnell vacated for their individual reasons?
While a left-hander is certainly their most pressing need, just picking up a quality righty to provide a bridge to/take some load off of Familia and Clippard would do wonders.

With how good their starters are, I’m not seeing this as a huge priority. There are guys available, but unless you’re worried about injuries I don’t know if I would make a major deal. Maybe they grab a vet with some closing experience, in case nerves get to Familia.

Craig Breslow’s already in town. Just put a uniform on him. Give the Sox a few dollars or something, they’ll probably agree.
Draven Moss
I’m pretty certain they don’t want Breslow.
Ray Ray
Rafael Betancourt was just released. He had good peripherals this season and deserves to play for a winner at the end of his career after his comeback from TJ surgery.

K-Rod???

Baseless speculation: I don’t think Sandy will trade for a middling reliever. If he makes a trade it will be for a top-level guy. Mets have too many guys are are in the okay-to-good range to bother wasting prospects to acquire another one.

I would love to have Darren O’day but the mets are In need for a reliable left hand pitcher so I’m gonna say ex met from the ’06 mets….

I would think a guy like Edward Mujica makes sense.. Though not having a good year, he always has pitched better in the NL and has had success against the Nats, Pirates, Cubs, and Phils over the last three years.

Ship ’em Dillon Gee and EYJ then call it a day.
Vandals Took The Handles
No question about it – Preller is lost and in circles, throwing stuff up against the wall hoping something sticks.
I can only imagine how the players in the clubhouse feel – wondering who goes tomorrow. Another rotisserie league GM.
Vandals Took The Handles
Preller asked for too much at the deadline for the players he was shopping, and appears to have done that again here with the Mets.
Ownership has to hire a consultant over him, he appears unable to function without adult supervision.
