I’m sorry this doesnt make sense. First of all, the metacarpal is not a fractured finger, its a fractured hand bone. He is having surgery, and the healing from surgery itself will take 6 weeks, possibly 8 weeks. Then he will have to regain the strength in his hand, maybe another 6 weeks. The idea that he will be in the lineup in 6 weeks is not reality. 12 weeks, maybe.

Metacarpal fractures represent 35% of hand fractures and most commonly involve the first and fifth rays. You can expect to be in a splint for non-operative fractures and a cast for operative fractures for 3 weeks. Metacarpal fractures healing rate varies from 3-6 weeks depending on the location of the fracture. You can usually return to sports activities about 6 to 8 weeks after the fracture.
Hope that helps.

Desmond really isnt a utilityman. He’s played various positions but has played each specifically during a given time. I guess my definition is a player being utilized in a utility role, and not just a player who has played multiple positions…if thats the case we have a lot for utilityman. He’s the Rockies 1B…debate aside on that.
