Jays are gonna regret this when the Carrera/Melvin Upton platoon is rocking a .600 OPS. They could play Pearce, but he’s going to end up being the 1B.

Melvin has always been a model of consistency. No way he will disappoint.

Of course it did lol

Angel how about a minor league deal with the ML minimum and some incentives for MLB games played or plate appearances every 40 GP or 200 PA with the opportunity to max out at $3.5M (i,e. $1M at each threshold).

Why does it always seem like players fail the physical in Baltimore. That’s happened a couple time recently as I recall.
davidcoonce74
I’ve read that they look at very specific things in their physical results, perhaps things other teams don’t look at as closely. Of course, they also signed JJ Hardy, and he’s been hurt a ton since he’s been there.
Connorsoxfan
Who hasn’t failed a physical with Baltimore by now?
jdgoat
Jose Bautista lol
Connorsoxfan
Haha
mahoney
That is hilarious.
But let’s not forget that Bautista was already an Oriole once, so they may have moved him because his physical wasn’t up to the impossible standards of the organization.

Folks make fun of the Orioles but they’re almost always correct with these failed physicals.

They really have done well in that regard although they probably wish they never signed Gallardo after he failed his.

Jose Osuna is a way better 4th outfielder option for the Pirates than Pagan…
Now if they would just dump Jaso and Rogers I would be a happy fan…
ronnsnow
Rogers was already dropped off the 40 man. And I dont understand the hate for Jaso. He’s a nice bench piece.

A lot of club don’t give physicals glad we don’t pay for damage goods

Huh? Every free agent signed by any team goes through a physical. That’s SOP.

Hmmm…this seems to happen a lot with the Os. Was the next thing out of their mouths “But we’ll sign you on a minors deal, how bout it?”

“The Pirates and the Braves are among the “many” teams that have made offers to outfielder Angel Pagan, tweets Jon Heyman”
…so let’s see, the “young up and coming Braves” currently have 15 guys 30 or older, a couple more on the cusp and they are trying to add yet another?
So when exactly does this young up and coming team plan on playing an actual, you know, young player?
stymeedone
Hopefully, the answer to your question is : When they are ready. So many teams rush players to the majors before they “develop”. Just look at all the young talent that have strike out rates like Dave Kingman. Look at what the Rangers have done with Joey Gallo. He’s only 23, but was rushed. He’s played parts of two seasons so his clock is ticking and the team has been using up their options on him. He’s basically destined to be a 4A player, changing teams every year, because of how they handled him. He would have been better off being left in the minors until he was 24 or 25 so he could learn to put the ball in play. If he does develop, it likely will be after his time in Texas is over. Atlanta should be in no rush.
