Stats such as BA, RBI, etc. are good stats to measure performance, but are not good talent indicators.
Some people argue that these stats are completely useless, and rely only on advanced stats that are pure talent evaluators and future performance predictors.
Both types of statistics have their place, they are just misused. You shouldn’t determine your draft selection based on high school RBI, and we shouldn’t replace the batting title with awards for highest and lowest BABIP.
