Fantasy Baseball: Anticipating Bullpen Holes
Hello, friends.
With the All-Star break in the rearview mirror, the trade deadline on July 31 looms large. Players will be moved, but until we know where to, it can be hard to judge how much their value will change, given the importance of their new surrounding casts and/or home ballpark to that increased/decreased value. However, while we don't know where everyone will be going, we have a much better idea of who will be going.
If you know where the holes are going to be, you can at least make some reasonable guesses on who will likely fill them, whether it's a bench hitter moving into a more full-time role, or a top prospect being summoned to take a newly opened spot in the rotation. Or, in today's case, we can look at which bullpens are about to be carved up to be divided among the contenders, and which former setup men are about to get their shot at closing glory.
We'll look next week at potential holes in rotations and lineups, but let's start in the bullpen, as old relievers getting new roles can quickly swing the Saves landscape in your league. Are you still in the mix for a league title but have a Saves category mired in mediocrity? Now's your time to shine.

Fantasy Baseball: Closers, Call-Ups, and a Player to Watch
Hello, friends.
Somehow, someway, the All-Star break is already upon us. As always, this time of year tends to feature waiver wires, which have mostly been picked clean. Full-time hitters, decent starting pitchers, and Saves (most of all) are in short supply and usually consist of about 60% blind hope. Unfortunate, as this coincides with the time that teams in contention might be severely lacking in a category, or two, and need to make a move to keep their championship dreams alive.
The questions in our weekly chats here at MLB Trade Rumors reflect these realities. Where can I find Saves? Which (good) prospects will be called up soon, AND be good enough to contribute in fantasy? Is there anyone under the radar who might rise up?

Fantasy Baseball: Found Aces?
Hello, friends.
The All-Star break is still a few weeks away but the true halfway point of the season is officially upon us, with most teams having now crossed the 80-game mark. This season, seemingly more so than recently, has a number of starting pitchers who have popped up out of the ADP hinterlands to be unexpected fantasy stars.
There are currently 10 starting pitchers in the top-50 by total value according to the FanGraphs auction calculator (12-team, 5x5) who entered the season with a post-250 ADP. Found treasure, indeed. The real question is if you can count on them to continue being so shiny, or whether their gold-plating will soon reveal a heart of rust.
If you have one of these secret aces, you're no doubt over the moon about it but we still have a lot of season left before you can hoist championship gold. We should probably try and sort out the chaff before assuming you can continue to rely on your found gold.
Let's take a deeper dive into one you should trust and one you should not, before finishing up with an old-fashioned, lightning round for another pair of arms. Because who doesn't love lightning rounds?
The commies, Jimmy. The commies.

Fantasy Baseball: Targeted Streaming for RHPs
Hello, friends.
Last week, we dove into one of my favorite areas to leverage in fantasy, the always titillating team splits. I'll hold for applause.
And, we're back! Splits might not be anything fancy, but they remain one of the surest bets to guide your decision-making in which pitchers to start, whether in year-long or daily fantasy. Year after year, it's proven that just because a team has a good offense overall, it doesn't guarantee they have equal success against both hands of pitchers. And in those gaps, streaming magic awaits.

Fantasy Baseball: Targeted Streaming for LHPs
Hello, friends.
Considering we're well past Stabilization Day, let's check in on one of my favorite topics to leverage for fantasy success: team splits. This might not be late-breaking news and/or rocket science but attacking teams via their performances with different splits continues to be one of the easiest ways to guide your streaming decisions.
