Sports Illustrated also said that the Braves don’t hold prospects back to save on service time, but in the case of our amazing pitcher, Hansen, Atlanta has seen it to be untrue. He was held back in the minors in spite of being ready at the beginning of the year (2009?).
Well, you can speculate on that, but reading Kevin Goldstein’s interview with the Braves’ director of baseball administration John Coppolella a year ago started to change my opinion that they were manipulating his service time.
What about pitchers? Top Prospect pitchers probably see ~170IP a season their first two seasons, pitching once every 5-7 days. 172 days will me harder to reach for pitchers then position players.

I think it has more to do with time spent on the 25 man roster. Pitchers accrue days between starts as well.

Someone should check and see how many players that get jerked around like this leave their team via free agency.
