I’m going to miss Kyle coming out of the pen. He always had the tough outings like 1st and 3rd with one out, but that’s because Tony knew he was the best and could handle it. Could pitch effectively to both LH and RH’s, I don’t like taking him out of the pen even though I know he wants to start so badly.

I’m gonna miss him from the BP too. But I’m excited to see what Eduardo Sanchez and salas can do.

Why does everyone keep mentioning Millwood? Cards’ FO has basically said “We’re keeping all options open,” but when asked specifically about Millwood, they say “NO CHANCE!” He’s a mediocre, has-been, flyball pitcher who thinks he should be paid. Even if he lowers his contract demands, it doesn’t change the fact that he’s a mediocre, has-been, flyball pitcher.

Cards really should have some conversations with Bill Smith about Slowey.

I’m in favor of giving KMac the chance to start (he’s done well, so far this spring)…but with an extremely short leash. Hopefully, the assortment of pitches he can throw for strikes will get him deeper into games and through the oppositions’ lineups adequately the next two or three times. If this proves not to be the case, however, I’d put him back in the ‘pen immediately where his is a proven commodity. Of starter options, I’d say take a look at Slowey by all means, but don’t even waste a glance at Millwood (I’d like to know who keeps pushing his name forward…and why), but perhaps a long look at Lance Lynn is in order as well.
