Nats GM To Meet With Buehrle’s Agent

By Zachary Links | November 16, 2011 at 11:21am CDT

WEDNESDAY, 11:21am: Rizzo will meet with Buehrle's agent before the GM Meetings end, the GM told Kilgore.

MONDAY, 11:25pm: Nationals GM Mike Rizzo met for about 45 minutes tonight with Bob Garber, the agent for free agents C.J. Wilson and Roy Oswalt, writes Adam Kilgore of The Washington Post.  Afterward, Garber wouldn't say much about the talks but did note that Rizzo expressed interest in both pitchers and the sides will keep talking as the offseason moves forward.

Garber characterized the talks as "preliminary" but noted that there's enough interest on both sides of the table for talks to continue.  The Nats will also make a strong push for left-hander Mark Buerhle, a person familiar with the Nationals’ plans told Kilgore.

Oswalt or Buerhle please.  From what I’ve read it sounds like they have the experience and presence that players like Andy Pettitte bring to the table.

I don’t live in the south so i have to get the MLB extra innings package and I don’t always get the Braves announcers and listening to the Nationals announcers brag about how “amazing” the team is can be compared to passing a kidney stone so I would prefer it if the team would stay as lousy as possible.

you have to at least admit that listening to FP is like listening to a pilot ramble on and on and on ever so confidently about the best way to drive a boat

sarcasm? I personally like them but many Braves fans hate Chip Caray.

No I really do like them, they always pull for the Braves of course but they always talk good about the team the Braves are playing. They always sound fair.

Oh ok, fair enough. Joe Simpson gets a little heated when the Red Sox are brought up. “Those dirty stinkin’ Red Sox fans” I believe was how he referred to the impending invasion of Red Sox nation into Turner Field.

Same as the Nats, Bob and FP always have something good to say about the other teams players. Rarely any criticism. Very fair

Can’t agree. FP is very well liked here. He’s the best color guy we’ve had. I think you just don’t like that he is so enthused about the Nats, as everyone really should be.

The Braves announcers say the same thing about the Nationals.

The Nats announcers are some of the best. They say good things about every team, if you listen they will rave about other teams players just as much as they do the ants players.  Why complain about it? Its a broadcast for Nats fans, and Nats fans love them and what they say

My buddy is a Nats fan living in NC and he complains about how terrible the braves announcers are all they do is talk about how great the Braves are.  I will agree with you I think the Nats announcers are terrible but i don’t think its because they brag about the team.

Probably Laroche will start at first and Morse in left until Harper is ready. I say probably by June.

I think we end up with Sizemore and Oswalt.. LaRoche will be playing 1B, and there is no chance that Harper starts the year in D.C.

I hope so.. Detwiler, Peacock, and even maybe Milone are better options. I think he’d be good trade bait

I really see wilson being a bust, like lackey. Rather go for a two year deal with oswalt or others.

Sizemore would be great! Bring him back to the org. that should have had him the whole time ( and cliff lee, and Brandon Phillips)
