Didn’t the Brewers offer C.C. $100 mil?
robert
Sure, but C.C. just had to put on pinstripes, like so many other players. Wouldn’t it mean more to win a ring with the Brewers then the Yankees?
MB923
Considering the Brewers have never a WS, we don’t know what it would mean like hehe
I would honestly say it would depend on what World Series team you were on. If I was a baseball fan, for the past 20 years or so, I think it would mean the most to be on the 2001 DBacks team or 2011 Cardinal team.

No love for the 2004 Red Sox or 2005 White Sox?
MB923
Them too but I was mostly talking about being a part of a team that played in one of the greatest WS ever. Not overall team (in which I would put the 2 Sox teams in those respective years as some of the best of course )

Then based on drama of the series alone over the last 20 years I’d choose 1991 or 2001.
MB923
Agreed. Maybe 1997 also or 2002

The point Robert was making is that most baseball fans know the deck is stacked in favor of the large market teams, most notably of course the Yankees. While that doesn’t completely discount their championships, having the deck stacked in your favor cheapens your championships, certainly in the eyes of many smaller market fans. That makes the rare championships for teams that overcome the disadvantages of market size extra special. Should the Brewers win one, every guy on that team will forever be revered in Milwaukee. In NY, the glory is shared among many players from many eras.

Lol I knew that from when it was posted.

RED SOX would have meant the most to me, and that’s why I would want to go to the Cubs as a elite talent. If you’re one of the reasons the Cubs break the curse of the billy goat you’d be a king on the North Side.

Valentine has made his share of mistakes, like erring on the side of his starters who stay in games and inning longer than they should, giving too many at bats to Darnell MacDonald and not offering up possible reasons why Adrien Gonzalez is still not hitting home runs. When the team fell to 12-19 it was obvious that he was stressed but, to his credit, he maintained his composure, in the dugout during those losing games. Having just completed a 5-1 home stand, he seems more relaxed and the team seems more confident. It is hard to say what is going on behind closed doors with his players or with the brass in the front office but Tom Werner seems to be in his camp….so he has to be doing somethings right including playing younger, less experienced guys like Nava and Middlebrooks. They have added spark to the team’s offense and played good defense in the field during the last 8 – 10 games. His choice of Alfredo Aceves to be his closer was a solid decision too. Alfredo is rising to the task quite well. All in all, a B- grade so far…
