The Mariners claimed outfielder Scott Cousins off of waivers from the Blue Jays, his agency, Sosnick Cobbe Sports, announced on Twitter. The Mariners, who have confirmed the move, now have 37 players on their 40-man roster.
The Blue Jays claimed Cousins last month before designating him for assignment. The 27-year-old hit .163/.200/.267 in 92 plate appearances for the Marlins this past season.

The M’s now have a Designated Catcher destroyer. Look out AL West catchers!

What do you mean by Designated Catcher Destroyer as I am a non-follower of Scott Cousins or any of his other family members?

He’s the guy that injured Posey in 2011.

You mean Posey is the guy that injured Posey in 2011…

cousins can’t stick on a team with his stellar .163/.200/.267 stat line. that kept buster out for a whole season?…what a waste of a great player for that 15 minute-of-famer who ended up being a throw away wannabe. hope he and his .163 makes the mariners team. that will give the oakland a’s one less player/team to care about. the a’s catcher will have to be warned about cousins’ questionable tactics, of course.

He hit Buster Posey

Wow. Good signing. We should go after Chad Qualls again too.

The M’s have, like, 5 of him already.

Cousins really hasn’t had enough plate appearances at the big league level for clubs to give up on him. His left handed bat should fair well at Safeco, although the fences are coming in at CF and LF anyhow. He has fair power and speed, and I’m looking forward to seeing if he can develop into a major league player.
