Good story behind Michael Olmsted. I was sorry to see him leave the Sox System. but pleased he is returning. Kind of reminds me of Dick “The Monster” Radatz from 1960 vintage. Olmsted is 6’6—245 about the same size as Radatz.. Good luck in your return to the Sox.

I also thought of Charlie Kerfeld, who had a couple of good years with the Astros in the 80s. Kerfeld was listed as 6’6″, 225, but he was a lot heavier than that when I remember seeing him.

Former setup man for a world series caliber team makes it through waivers unclaimed. Its truly sad what injuries can do to ya, Mr. Stutes.

I remember when he came up there was a lot of hype and optimism around him (and Schwimer) in the Phillies organization, but you look at his numbers and he really wasn’t that impressive. I’m actually kind of surprised that I was surprised when he was DFA’d. Seems like it was only a matter of time.

Olmsted’s signing could be a good thing for the Sox. If he has been a solid pitcher in the minors he should be a great depth option for them. His 5.88 era came in the PCL which is known to be an offensive league where almost everyone is hitting around .300
