All the best to Cody Anderson, but there’s no way he would have left camp on the opening day roster. No room in the starting 5 and there’s already a long reliever in Clevinger.
If anyone were going to replace Tomlin for the 5th spot I’d say it should be Merrit. After his great outings in 2016 including the 4 1/3 IP 3H 0R to start an ALCS game, I think he should be given a chance sooner rather than later

I watched Merritt pitch in Goodyear. He looked terrible. So did Morimando.

One outing doesn’t define a career. We should know that by now.
sufferforsnakes
It was more than one.
bigguccisosa300
he looked alright in the playoffs
chadkaboom
no way they replace Tomlin with Merrit, especially since they signed Tomlin that little extension, that wasn’t to play long man in the bullpen or backup in AAA.
Mattimeo09
Tomlin should definitely start out the year in the rotation and they also shouldn’t be quick to pull him.
I was just saying if anyone else were going to pitch in the rotation, I’d give Merritt a chance

I’d rather see Clevenger pitch in AAA, and be ready to start when the Tribe needs a sixth starter. His future is as a stater, so he needs to stay stretched out, not pitch sporadically out of the bullpen.

Who would confuse Cody Anderson with Cody Allen? Completely different names.
Bluesman
Yeah, I thought that was an odd comment too.
Anderson…Allen
There they are, side by side, and the names don’t look much alike.
