Angels sure could use Norris!
ryanw-2
It depends on if you get 2016 Derek Norris or the 2013-2015 Derek Norris. The former would just be the same value when paired with either Maldonado or Perez. The latter though would be an upgrade. FangGraphs has Angels catchers projected at 1.6.

That would be great

I’m going to laugh when he has a. Egged season than wiethers

Better

How do you judge a better season?

Offense and defense

How do YOU judge a better season? Usually people judge based on performance.

Rizzo and company would definitely have egg on their faces if that happened.
lowtalker1
I honestly think it’s possible
He had one bad year and has a better bat over all
Glove was improving too, in hedges we trust
lowtalker1
Al east is also a lot more hitter friendly than the nl east
natsgm
I think that it is likely. (Or that wieters will get hurt). Which is why i hated Wieters signing and hate releasing norris. Going by production vs contract Norris will almost certaintly be better value. Cant wait to hear the Nats cant add salary later on because of wieters.

Yokes on them (..I’m sorry)

MiLB contract somewhere is pretty certain for a guy that had a couple of decent seasons. Still hard to believe that he had the worst season ever for a catcher last year. Can’t believe the Nationals signed him then just cut him. Wonder if they had reservations about him from what they saw in spring training?
nysoxsam
He was signed as simple insurance in case they were unable to ink a free agent catcher. Once they agreed with Weiters, the baseball world knew this day was coming. Whether or not they made the right decision is a September discussion.

Except he didn’t sign with them. He was traded to them at the very beginning of the offseason. The only reason they got Wieters was because there were literally no other takers and Boris and Nationals ownership have an interesting yet productive relationship. Washington doesn’t operate on conventional wisdom. They change there mind and do whatever they want all the time.

Teams are lining up to sign the worst catcher ever, yay!

Yay for sensationalism!

Worst year by a catcher I have seen in 40 years, worst hitter in baseball last season fangraphs.com/blogs/instagraphs/nationals-trade-for-last-years-worst-hitter/, 2 year trend line down after 2014 career year. B%, K%, ISO, SLG all trending the wrong way for 2 years. Worse yet its FB he is having the most problems with. Never been very god on defense or game calling. He will get a big league contract somewhere and for more than the minimum, but Norris is done as a starter. He will be the backup with a pop. Probably even see a few starts at 1B.

“Never been very god on defense or game calling.”
Not many can be Very God on defense. Mike Trout, sure, but … he’s an Angel.
Now at bat, lots of them possess Higher Power and heavenly swings.
And as far as Very Gods go, that Thor can sure pitch lightning bolts….

HAAA!

The braves could use him actually
edawg1512
I agree. Depends on price of course but it is plausible to sign him and maybe even carry three catchers to the all star break
pjmcnu
They say TB, but I don’t think he’ll go there if he has similar offers elsewhere. Ramos is coming back, and that means he’s either the backup (which he won’t like) or some kind of same-side platoon (which neither C will like. I expect him to sign with one of the teams that are planning to start a backup or a rookie. Unless TB showers him with $$, of course, but what are the chances of that?
