So are the Reds going to carry three catchers until Mesoraco gets hurt again? Or will they option Barnhart and keep Turner as the backup? Or will they offer Turner back?
padresfan
Padres have four… what’s your point lol
mvottop
No way Barnhart gets optioned.
redsfan48
Exactly my thought. He’s proven himself to be a pretty solid Major League catcher. At least to start, I bet Barnhart either gets the majority of starts, or splits it 50/50 with Mes.
gocincy
Until Ames starts hitting, there’s no rush to take lots of innings away from Barnhart. Break in Mes slowly, DH him in AL stadiums, and keep the long view on him. He’s missed a ton of time, so it is undoubtedly going to take him a long time to get his timing back.
arizan
Offer Turner back. If/when Mesoraco gets hurt again, it’s probably time to give Wallach a look. Brantly in Louisville and Nieto in Pensacola also have MLB experience if they want to go that route.
PLAYTOWIN
Mesoraco will never be a full time catcher again.
ksoze
I agree with that! The Reds have used high draft picks on catchers that are working their way through the system.

Can we get a flow chart for David Wright’s chain of injuries?
ExileInLA 2
How about a children’s song?
The broken neck bone’s connected to the broken shoulder bone, the broken shoulder bone’s connected to the broken back bone, the broken back bone’s connected to the broken hip bone…
mikeyank55
No chart needed. David is rolling the baseball towards first, however it is going askew as it hits the mound with Zero Velocity. No worries
Metsies fans. He is finished and will NOT let the cheap Wilpons collect money by going on the DL. So the team is stringing out their fans as they have over the past 25 years. Jeff Wilpon is playing Dodgers fantasy baseball and his riskiest move is signing a few two bit prospects.
metseventually 2
Your bit is old. Focus on your own team and stop ripping on another one.
chesteraarthur
Do the mets have insurance on Wright? If they do, it does kind of suck for them that he keeps trying to play.
Michael Macaulay-Birks
Should have Tonya Harding finish him off
metseventually 2
They do. I’m not sure of the terms, but it could be based around the amount of DL days he accumulates.
reflect
Mets get a payout (not sure the amount) if DW is on the DL for more than 60 days in a year.
Everything resets every year, so last year’s DL time doesn’t count now.
padam
Mets collect… If he misses 60 games in a season, Mets collect 75% of his salary until he plays again. By sitting out, he’s only helping the Wilpon’s.
schellis 2
Helping mets too. Wright is done
bastros88
maybe the red sox can trade for Sam Dyson or Ian Krol, or maybe sign Jeremy Guthrie
raysdaze
The Sox should try to work out a deal with the M’s for Smyly. His shoulder is going to be fine, just like Price’s elbow!
johnsilver
No SP’s needed and especially no relievers. they have no room to keep Taylor on the 25 man roster already until either ABAD is canned, or some injury takes place.. meanwhile Barnes and hembree continue to throw too many innings/games as the middle consistent RH guys in the pen. with kelly a wild card every game he throws.
Adding taylor would help a bunch and unloading Abad.. Even for nothing in return would hurt little.
dust44
Gotta keep Turner. They r carrying 5 OUTFIELDERS. Option one of them and that way u don’t lose a possible piece of the future.
mvottop
Carrying 5 outfielders is actually normal. Go look at the rosters of other teams and you’ll see. Also, Turner is in no way the future behind home plate that is a ridiculous statement. By the way, want to know what’s not normal? Carrying 3 catchers. Also, one of the outfielders you are referring to, Alcantara, has versatility and plays the infield too.
bastros88
maybe, and this might be a bit of a reach, but maybe one of their catchers can learn how to play other positions, like maybe 1st or corner Outfield spots
mvottop
I would like to see Mesoraco learn to play a corner outfield spot. I remember a few years ago they were going to try and get him some work in LF. I just don’t see him replicating the success of 2014 and I especially do not ever see him being an every day catcher. Obviously LF is not going to happen with Duvall out there.
muddust
loving this dombrowski trading for pitchers and getting zero innings thing. (minus sale)
Armaday
Wright, unfortunately, is hanging on to a miracle. It’s not in the cards. Boy, the Mets can really use that salary and find themselves a real third baseman. He is and was always loved by Mets fans, but fate is inevitable. Let’s go get a Ryon Healy!
