Angels To Sign Junichi Tazawa

By Jeff Todd | July 13, 2018 at 8:55pm CDT

The Angels have agreed to a minor-league deal with reliever Junichi Tazawa, according to Dylan Hernandez of the Los Angeles Times (Twitter link). He’s set to work out at extended spring camp rather than immediately joining an affiliate.

Perhaps the Halos have some ideas for getting Tazawa back on track. He was once quite a useful reliever, though it has been a while since that could be said.

The 32-year-old limped through a stint with the Marlins, compiling 75 1/3 innings of 6.57 ERA ball before he was cut loose earlier this year. He ended up joining the Tigers on a minors pact but only made seven appearances at Triple-A before he was again released.

He was immediately placed on the 10-Day DL.

I’m with you. Free Mike Trout. He has 1.5 years left. Don’t let him continue to waste his talent on a playoff-less team.

He has 2.5 left and lives living at the beach. It sucks to see him miss the playoffs, though.

There is literally no way he doesnt re=up.

Say what you want about the losing past, but the angel core is LEGIT.

Ohtani, Trout, Simmonds Skaggs, Heaney, Barria

Plus: Adell and Marsh look like real deal stars

Plus Arte has pledged to keep spending regardless.

The Angels future prospects are brighter than theyve been since the 100+ win year, I dont think Trout is signing anywhere else.

          “There’s literally no way he doesn’t re-up”

There’s many reasons he won’t. Someone will pay him more. He’ll go home to Philly (who has a better core). Or one of the rich teams will sign him.

I concur again JD. No way will Trout stay, especially if he wants to win.

I do think it’s possible that Trout resigns, but it’s not a guarantee like bkbkbk stated

Maybe they merely noticed his arm was still attached, marking a vast improvement over the rest of the depth chart

You guys have such garbage negative attitudes. You must have woke up on the wrong side of the bed this morning. It’s one guy who probably won’t even play on field.

I thought he’d come to Anaheim after he was initially DFA’d but like the fact that he’s going to extended spring to figure this out. Maybe whoever helped Calhoun works with pitchers too! At the very least, another Japanese player to have in the clubhouse with Shohei

I don’t think a new batting stance will help Tazawa tbh
