Could the Giants possibly persuade Billy Beane to leave the A’s to become the Giants next GM?

Steve, do we get refunds if we waited hours in line for a Jeff Todd chat? I paid at least $0,000 for this.

Ball clubs don’t care how many runs a player can drive in? That’s saying the same as we don’t care if player x can hit in the clutch. The object of the game is to score more runs than your opponent. However many ways it can be done Is important

It’s been proven that clutch isn’t really a repeatable thing. From SABR via Baseball Prospectus: This analysis, which builds on Pete Palmer’s and Dick Cramer’s research from the 1970s with a much more robust data set, illustrates continued difficulty in identifying clutch hitting as a replicable skill.

Stop believing in TV analysis. Stats are recited to fill in airtime. X player hit .274 vs team Y over his career. What does that tell you. Not a damned thing!

Same token: 100 RBI also doesn’t tell you anything. How many RBI against pitchers with a FIP below 3.00 vs with a FIP above 4.00? That’s actually good information. If you and I both have 50 RBIs, and if 75% of your RBIs are against an average of 4.50 FIP pitching while 75% of my RBIs are against an average of 3.10 FIP pitching, I’m probably a better hitter.

I know coaching in Nebraska was Darin Erstad’s dream, but I wonder if he would leave to coach the Angels?

I only disagree with one thing. I think the cubs may take a chatwood for Cobb swap. Cobb was a respectable pitcher in the second half and chatwood just can’t find the zone. But I suppose the rotation is already full with Hamels and a healthy darvish so that may be the case. Chatwood just seems like a DFA candidate with the way he’s played.
