so i posted something the other day about baines being in the hall of fame. i used an example that if tony larussa stands up in a room with those 16 guys and makes a case for baines, nobody is going to stand up to him and make a strong rebuttal. well turns out i was probably spot on because i just read an espn article by david schoenfeld that says basically exactly that. larussa says baines belongs in the hall of fame and whoever says otherwise is full of a lot of expletives. i didnt care before but now im actually a little upset these 16 hand picked guys get to determine if someone gets into the hall of fame. its so easy to swing a jury in a small room of 16. so basically every year 1 or 2 guys are going to get in that dont cut it on the writers ballot because i dont see all 16 of them getting together and not electing someone in. their egos are too big apparently
