I expect Yankee’s to begin kicking some tires on the remaining free agent pitchers.From what I’m reading and hearing Sevy’s arm issue may be serious and he maybe out for an extended period of time.

Asking Trout his opinion of Phillies fans and the city in general does not constitute tampering. Neither does saying there is a player hitting FA in 2 years, as he did not mention Trouts name at that time. Much ado about nothing.

Probably the up to the commish but I am not sure. I will have to look it up. I don’t recall it being in the CBA. I believe it’s covered in the official rules or MLB constitution…..probably the rules. I don’t have time right now but will try and look later…unless you want to…here is a link to the rules…. mlb.mlb.com/documents/0/8/0/268272080/2018_Officia… . It’s a slap on the wrist at most. It’s not tampering, as Harper did not tell Trout to force a trade, sit out into FA, breach his current contract, etc. Harper referred to a period of time
That involved Trout’s next contract\/FA period. I can’t see it being anymore than Judge got, And if so, it would be an overreach by the MLB.
Every team is going to fantasize about adding Trout in 2021, players are going to speak out. Philly is already locked onto him, his next landing spot. It is looking inevitable at this point. Sure it’s up to trout, but the tea leaves are screaming Trout to Philadelphia.
It’s a bit more than “asking his opinion” I’m surprised they are not making a big deal of this. Harper is already saying he is going to call Trout to recruit him. How is this not illegal in MLB? This is a distraction to Mike Trout and the LA Angels and is very unprofessional.
He said he’ll call him in 2020 when he’s a FA.
Rule 3(k) says: “To preserve discipline and competition, and to prevent the enticement of players, coaches, managers and umpires, there shall be no negotiations or dealings respecting employment, either present or prospective, between any player, coach or manager and any Major or Minor League Club other than the Club with which the player is under contract.”
Whatever the penalty is, it’ll be worth it to have Trout in red pinstripes.

I have long wished that MLBTR would add links to the rules, CBA, JDA and Constitution right below the “Rumors By Team” section.
