White Sox Re-Sign Brandon Guyer

By Jeff Todd | March 26, 2019 at 8:53pm CDT

The White Sox announced today that they have re-signed outfielder Brandon Guyer to a minor-league contract. Terms of the deal are not known.

Guyer, 33, had been released late in camp after spending the spring with the Chicago organization. He was obviously unable to find a preferable opportunity elsewhere and elected to return to take up a spot on the depth chart.

While he has had his share of success in the past, particularly against left-handed pitching, Guyer has struggled of late. He managed only a .220/.312/.351 slash in 413 plate appearances over the past two injury-marred seasons.

I suppose there’s always worse depth options.

Thompson had a good spring. Guyer didn’t.

Thompson hasn’t had a good career

Neither has Guyer, unless you consider getting hit by pitches a good career.

Hopefully Guyer will be ready in case Jay’s injury lingers. Don’t want Elroy up too long.

    Dumpster diving Rick.

    Good depth signing.

Geez I tried to type the stupid crap the that the bobsy twin Sox idiot posters always type on every Cubs transaction and I can’t do it. It sounds pathetic.

A harmless end of the 40 man roster move no big deal. Whatever.

With more advanced medical info (not to mention long-term deals that allow players to go a bit easier on themselves), you need a deep 40-man; long past are the days when a guy would play through an injury for fear he’d be “Wally Pipp-ed” (infamous Yankee 1B BEFORE Lou Gehrig). And navigating a 25 man roster through the season is a load.

There are worse AAAA-26th man types than Guyer.

Dumpster diving Rick… oh wait, literally the entire roster is a dumpster fire. Nevermind, business as usual on the south side. Carry on, nothing to see here… never anything to see here.

This is fun, special shout out to ChiSuxCity, chitown and the other thirsty lil Sux trolls. Your team/owner is literally the most irrelevant joke in MLB, now F’n Padres fans are even laughing at you for whiffing on Manny… PADRES FANS! Yet you inexplicably troll anything Cubs? Hahaha, it would be comical if it weren’t so damn thirsty, transparent and pathetic. I’ll be sure to carve out 3 minutes a week, maybe 2, and drop by to give you your medicine. Keep trolling the only ACTUAL MLB in the city, you’ll keep seeing me.

Who is the ChiSox RF of the future now that Avisail Garcia is gone? Adam Engel makes up some of his offensive deficiencies with his excellent CF defense but there needs to be a ++ hitter on each side of him. H
