White Sox Sign Jacob Scavuzzo

By Jeff Todd | June 21, 2019 at 12:03pm CDT

The White Sox have signed outfielder Jacob Scavuzzo, according to a club announcement. He’ll report to Triple-A Charlotte.

Scavuzzo, 25, posted an intriguing — if unbalanced — .259/.300/.696 slash line in 120 plate appearances at Triple-A with the Padres organization. That wasn’t enough to impressive the San Diego brass, as Scavuzzo’s tally of 15 long balls was accompanied by a worrisome blend of forty strikeouts and just five walks.

A former Dodgers draftee, Scavuzzo has shown the same essential attributes ever since he cracked the pro ranks in 2012, but never to quite these extremes. It’s clear there are some intriguing physical tools to work with, but the South Siders obviously have their work cut out if they are to find a way to help Scavuzzo reach base at a palatable rate.

Still salty about Hahn FLEECING Epstein for Eloy and Cease? Or giving away Vogelbach for nothing? Or Soler? Or Lastella? Or Gleyber? I could go on and on and on….

He’s NOT wrong at all and he actually missed pointing out Theo’s first move which was another huge mistake- trading D.J. LaMathieu for Ian Stewart (hahahahaha)!
If Cubs fans actually looked at things with an open & honest perspective that midget and his smaller midget co-hort Jed are far from geniuses!

Yes because saying they got nothing for Vogelbach, Torres, or Soler is correct.

A White Sox minor league signing and cubbies fans are posting about it? Are they obsessed about the Sox?

Gave away Vogelbach for nothing chitown311 seriously?!????? How about for mike Montgomery who has stepped in as an emergency starter like 5 times the last 3 years and oh yeah pitched the last out IN THE WORLD SERIES.

Gleybar for nothing?????? Oh yeah sorry you just forgot about for Aroldis Chapman who hmmm let’s see might have been overused by his manager but was instrumental in getting to and WINNING THE WORLD SERIES.

Soler for nothing???? Just a closer named Wade Davis who helped them get back to the NLCS the year after their title.

Q trade might be tilted in Sox Favor but everything else you mentioned you know nothing Jon Snow!

In my opinion Mr. Theo Epstein has made only 2 positive trades/free agent signings that have worked out favorably over time. They are the trade that brought Rizzo to the Cubs from the Padres for Andrew Cashner and signing Jon Lester. The rest of his moves have been questionable. Sure, the Cubs won a championship in 2016. The front office simply believed they did what they had to do. But the foolish spending on players such as Heyward, Darvish, Morrow, Duensing is what’s most concerning. A far as the White Sox are concerned. I believe we are starting to see a shift in the balance of power not only in the Windy City but across MLB. The White Sox are on their way.

Lol, just a little. I hope he does well, he probably will get more playing time in CLT.
Plus that ballpark is incredible. If you ever visit Charlotte, it’s a must see.

Padres have #1 ranked farm system in all of MLB so they can afford to be very picky I guess.

I believe that’s by virtue of the baby Pads graduating off the list. You use your 20-23 year olds in the big leagues they go from prospect points to the next big thing.
Not a bad thing, just don’t interpret it as Pads getting worse.

I expect this means Cordell is as good as gone.
