The Orioles have claimed righty Aaron Brooks off waivers from Oakland and designated right-hander Josh Lucas for assignment, the team reports.
Brooks, 29, appeared in 15 games for the A’s this season, starting six. He was mostly rocked over that span, pitching to a 5.01 ERA/5.67 FIP with a chilling 12 homers allowed in just 50 1/3 IP. The former Royal, Cub, and Brewer farmhand’s had major difficulty keeping the ball in the yard throughout his nine-year big-league career, so he wouldn’t figure to be a choice fit for Baltimore’s cozy Camden Yards dimensions.
Lucas, 28 and coincidentally a member of the A’s last season, was hit hard in nine appearances for Baltimore this season. The righty’s average fastball checked in at just 90.1 MPH for the club this year, well below the 93.5 MLB reliever average.
It’s the latest in a near-constant reshuffling of the Oriole pitching staff this season, yet again a sore spot for the club on its second consecutive #1 pick trajectory. Only John Means and Andrew Cashner have offered any solace in the rotation, with 23 bullpen members combining to post a league-high 1.89 HR/9.
So they take our org filler scrub from last year, DFA him, and then take our org filler scrubs from this year. Okay Orioles, have fun with that one.

A little, yes. The Orioles are dumpster diving right now, it is a little offensive that they just claim whoever in hopes something sticks.
O’s have not much in their system. Martin is a guy who never hit well and they keep rolling out a guy who can’t hit above the Mendoza line. Now they take AAAA starter that is any other team’s best 9th option starter. I am surprise they didn’t take Rodney instead the nationals got him to destroy their chances.
Getting offended by a team trying to improve their team is absolutely insane. That’s why they play.

You take the history of the Orioles, compared to the history of the Athletics, they don’t deserve to shine the Orioles shoes.
While he’s definitely not a difference maker someone on the 25 man roster of a Major League club is not organizational filler.
He is when your starting pitching depth is ass. Only reason he got an opportunity with the A’s.

It’s worth a shot for the Orioles. He was pretty good for a few years with the Saints.

PSA: the Orioles know they suck. They know this guy sucks. They have to have someone to pitch innings, especially after Cashner and/or Bundy get dealt. It isn’t anything more than surviving the season.

Dylan Bundy pitched a good game yesterday. He’s prone to serving up HRs, however.
