wow i cant type correctly, sorry about that.

Ahhh. I knew “Starlin Castro” had to be a typo. :))
DarkSide830
i think Castro would have been on a hall pace if we were speaking of an earlier time, though today probably not. however, he is still only 29 and has been a great singles hitter with solid power that has played several positions. (not amazingly, but at about league average) we’re talking about a guy who could have some nice counting stats when all is said and done, some that would probably have been decently impactful on voters in the past.

Hey, do you think the Reds will get either Ozuna or Ryu this offseason
Blue_Painted_Dreams_LA
Seems like the Reds would benefit more so by finding a CF. They have a solid OF mix and probably would benefit clearing an infield spot for Senzel. Ozuna is not really a fit, and even if Aquino is completely solved next season COF is a pretty find/fix at the deadline. Ryu has been pretty clear in the past that he’s contemplated going back to Korea if he wasn’t in LA. Regardless I think the Dodgers are going to bring him back. I’m also not sure you shell out that money for that type of SP in that ballpark, especially if you don’t have the same type of pitching depth.

I think King Felix will get at least 2 years from a team like Miami or Baltimore, may be back in Seattle to though

Why would any team want to even consider committing two years to a pitcher who has been flat-out terrible both this season and last?

Hey Boston, take Piscotty and pick 4 from here for Betts: Mateo, Fowler, Barreto, Dunshee, Howard, Barrera, Kaprelian, Jefferies, Diaz, Rivas, Beck, Lazarito.
Fairest and best quality deal for the Red Sox. Damn the A’s line up perfectly for a Betts trade, and instantly jump over Houston for the 2020 West favorite with him in RF. Canha-Laureano-Betts hot damn.
spudchukar
Nope, Betts to St. Louis, home of the bowling HOF.

How’s wainwright doing?

I like the comment on the Astros SPs, the Astros identify underrated or underperforming SPs, change the pitch mix, mechanics, grip, etc. and “make” the next Cole, Morton or Miley (and maybe Sanchez). They won’t pay these player market rates. They dump “over rated” minor league arms to improve the big club. See Trent Thornton, JB Bukauskas, Corbin martin, David Paulino, etc.
crazylarry
Markakis a HOF now that was hysterical.

Hey Steve Adams! I would love to get your estimates for one year deals on the following players if they performed like their best career season this year and are 2020 free agents. The players and seasons are: Bob Gibson on a 1 year free agent deal right after he pitched like his 1968 season with a 1.12 ERA and over 300 innings pitched.
Barry Bonds on a 1 year deal after his 72 homer season.
The last question is Ruth on a one year deal after his 60 homer season. The adjustment I want to add to Ruth is that everyone else in the league hit like they did in Ruth’s time so he is that much better than everyone.
I would love to hear everyone’s guesses on these hypotheticals.
Bob Gibson after 1.12 ERA and 300+ innings pitched. 2020 1 year deal =?
Barry Bonds after .371 batting average and 72 home runs all while demolishing walks records. 2020 1 year deal=?
Babe Ruth after hitting 60 homers which is more than twice as many asany player hit in a single season in history all while pitching as a starter to the tune of an ERA in the low 2’s. 2020 one year deal = ?
If Harper was offered $40 million per year on a 4 year deal and Betts would get $55 million I have to guess these guys all get well over $60 million.
The last hypothetical I have is if Mike Trout hit free agency after this season and he demanded only 1 year deals. I’m gonna guess Trout would get $60 mill, Gibson would get $65 mill, Bonds would get $70 mill and Ruth might come close to $100 mill. Any opinions? Everyone has to admit that would make for the most interesting off season ever.

I think it would be wise for Ozuna to accept the QO if the cardinals grant him one, which I think they will…his value is already kinda low plus the draft pick attached I dont think teams will be to inclined to give him a bunch of money and lose a draft pick…accept the offer and he can get his shoulder healthier and hope to have a big year…I don’t think he would do any worse than this year at least and then at least he loses the draft pick attachment
