Everyone has their price. The Royals are at least 3 years away. Merrifields next 3+ seasons are going to be entirely wasted. He might as well not even play.

If Merrifield himself demands a trade, he will get one. Even after Ernie Banks, pretty sure no one wants to be known as a good player on a last place team his whole career.

Just because the numbers add up doesn’t mean that it makes sense. What KC values may be different than what another team values.

Does Merrifield donate every cent of his contract to local KC charities or something? Why is he untouchable?

Moore (the GM) thinks highly of him, he’s a fan favorite with a low cost long contract and the Royals remember they are in the entertainment business. Moore is incredibly loyal (for whatever reason) to the players he loves (see the ridiculous/overpay Gordon extension…..

When I saw that Baker was thought to be a good fit anywhere and a great coach I stopped reading. Anyone who thinks that lazy bum who has no clue how to run a club and destroyed several arms is a moron. He had so many chances to make the world series and choked ie a loser.

lol anyone who ignores history and several pitcher accounts of support for him must be a salty clown from chi town. his players love him and he wins. but hey be mad because players blew the game. then the bums ran a poor guy out of town because the players blew it. sound like a bunch of clowns to me

First, he had made a WS, and was within a game of making two others.

He also has won at least one division title every stop, including in Cincinnati.

Baker is a very good manager.

Yea, I don’t think Dusty is an all time great…but if my team was four weeks from pitchers and catchers reporting sans manager, I’d be pleased as a pig in slop to get him.

His teams choke in the postseason left and right. And with the rosters he has inherited he better win a couple division titles.

Baker is average at best. I honestly don’t know what he’s done to deserve being a “respected” manager.

A lot of players used steroids and never got caught, same for probably every team on this cheating scandal also.

But we know of at least 2 AL teams recently…and those teams also probably had steroid users in the 90s as well. The defense of “steroids meant everyone was cheating” doesn’t mean these latest examples should be ignored or dropped so swiftly. This is a BIG story and fans and teams alike are upset about it. It won’t be going away soon because it’s an inconvenience for fans of those teams, not that those fans are guilty, mind you.

Castellanos waited too long, should’ve followed the Cutch playbook and sell himself to the first decent bid.
I would love to see him in a hitters park like Cincinnati, Colorado, or Baltimore but those seem unlikely. Now it’s probably the Padres 5/60.

He physically plays in the field, even for the Cubs who didn’t complain about defense. Joe madden actually defended his criticism and there have been well documented articles on his weaknesses as well as his recent progress.

I was repeating what mlbtr always says. Castellanos isn’t terrible in the field. He catches what he gets to and he has a decent arm. He just lacks range.

The Cubs save $30-40 million this season if they stay under the tax. Do some research man.
Also to think Heyward has no value is ridiculous. He projects as a 2 War player this season.

Serious question, how is that the case? If that is true then I understand their unproven you to get under but my understanding is they will just pay 30% penalty on the amount they go over… so 10m over, 3m penalty.

If I remember right, I think Heyward was injured much of the 2nd half. Trying to play through the injuries.
