Mexican League Cancels 2020 Season

By Jeff Todd | July 1, 2020 at 12:45pm CDT

Following yesterday’s decision of Minor League Baseball to cancel the 2020 season, the affiliated Mexican League has followed suit. In an official announcement, the 16-team circuit says it will not attempt to launch play this year.

While it’s obviously disappointing to see Mexico’s top league on ice, the announcement makes clear the decision was made for good reason. Health and safety priorities rendered a campaign untenable, the league says.

No doubt this decision was driven in large by an anticipated inability to generate significant revenue without regular paid attendance. Expanding the income possibilities through television and other media initiatives rates as a priority for the league, the announcement goes on to specify.

Despite the bad news, the Mexican League sounded a rather upbeat tone. Players and umpires will receive financial support, though to what extent isn’t specified. And the league says it’ll use the time off to work on various changes to secure the long-term viability of the business.

I’m with you, time to play ball. Enough is enough. People’s sanity can not handle another shut down. The economy can’t handle another shut down. Imagine how many people will miss their doctors appointments? Their screenings? Their mental health providers? Their paychecks? At some point people just have to admit the medicine is doing more harm than good. Nobody is forcing those at risk to go outside, but they are forcing healthy people inside. Once again we will sacrifice the rights of the majority for the minority.

Funny how there is no count for the lives lost from those impediments. All of a sudden we shouldn’t get the anti body test Either because it’s not 100 percent accurate. Neither is a covid test. Wonder if it has to do with more and more people have had it than they thought and it would show it’s not as deadly as they are making it out to be? Then the death rate drops when you add in that data, can’t have that. It is a conspiracy, but it’s not a theory. It’s called common sense, something in very short supply.

At the end of the day it is much more infectious than the other strains we have seen, but if they actually let the science out it isn’t as deadly as they say.

It’s safe to drink water…. It’s just way better to drink from a bottle than a fountain and it is rare for your to get sick from a fountain… you’re just a racist POS.

MetsFan22, Water south of the border is not safe for drinking u less it has been sterilized with iodine or boiled. Having lived there for 2+ years and having thrown up 100 times over those 2+ years gives me some street cred on this issue.

It’s not just the water you drink, It’s when you get ice from a restaurant. It’s impossible to avoid really if you live there.

You must be a liberal by resorting to name calling instead of a civil discussion when facts are presented. Best of luck to you.

You accuse them of resorting to name-calling and complain about a lack of civility immediately after derisively referring to them as a ‘liberal’. That’s rich.

How about you both leave politics aside? This is an article about the Mexican League.

Calling someone a liberal is a far cry from calling someone a “racist POS”, and his point was accurate.

        • WAH1447

Liberalism is a severe mental disorder. He/she can’t help themselves. They often make a point and when you have a rebuttal, they yell and loudly talk over you so you can’t make your point. They say everything is racist before to long the crayon that is the color black will no longer be allowed to be called that because it’s racist. They have cry closets so when they are wrong they can go cry in a safe space and last but not least they believe in killing babies up till birth because it’s their body and they can chose to do whatever they please and don’t believe in the consequences of ones actions and just think it’s ok to murder babies because it’s an inconvenience to them. Don’t get mad at the person they are severely mentally ill with liberalism and just can’t help themselves

“because it’s their body and they can chose to do whatever they please and don’t believe in the consequences of ones actions and just think it’s ok to murder babies because it’s an inconvenience to them.”

          Ahem…

When you think it’s OK to murder an entire nursing home because it’s your body and you refuse to be inconvenienced by a mask…you don’t EVER get to use this argument again. Ever.

          Just FYI.

Since you clearly don’t understand the irony.

What do you call it when intentional actions lead to the death of another person…?

          A) Fetus
          B) Old person
          C) Person with pre-existing conditions

How many of these have a “right to life”?

I think risking the ending of anyone’s existence because of your own convenience and selfishness is vulgar and reprehensible.

You only think that for A).

@bell Good grief your are dramatic. You understand corona is airborne right? A virus is one million times smaller than a bacteria. You can cough outdoors and it can travel 1,000 miles in the wind. At any time we are in a constant pool of some 20,000,000 bacteria and viruses. Breathing them in they are part of life. Everyone will be exposed to it. Your wild narcissism and fear based existent are what lead you to “feel” otherwise. Also it’s just another reason to virtue signal and argue with strangers about your moral superiority.

        • Warisalie

That was well said. But you forgot to mention….. it’s all in the name of invisible RIGHTS….. they call the right to kill a baby “women’s rights”. They call the right to fight the police and not be shot…. “civil rights”. When at a gay demonstration, if they do Not agree with you….. you will be beat up in the name of “gay rights”, because you are just a bigot since you do not agree. Or a racist if you don’t think people of color should be able to beat up the police without repercussions. Every time you go against them you violate these supposed “rights”.

Dramatic like saying that wearing a mask at a grocery store is a violation of your Constitution rights and freedoms.

So, “no shoes, no shirt, no service” has been tyranny all along?

Except I never said that so fantastic retort. Like most in your camp you’re a mile wide and an inch deep. Void of critical thinking and self analysis. You’ve got a long and difficult life in front of you my friend. Good luck.

          I wouldn’t trade my life for anyone’s.

And now that Hefner is dead, I wouldn’t even consider it.

          But, thanks for your concern.

And that you personally did not say that exact thing is irrelevant since I was talking about a specific mindset of certain people. You interjected into the conversation to speak for them with your tangent (designed to minimize your own personal responsibility).

But, understand, no thinking person will ever again listen to people who claim to be “pro life” who can’t be bothered to wear a mask at Walmart.

It became crystal clear that you/they don’t believe that every life must be saved no matter the inconvenience or expense once the inconvenience and expense became yours/theirs instead of some womans’.

Uncle bill de Blasio taught you well. Your a good little race baiter. Seeing racism where it doesn’t exist as usual lol. You eat up every word like a good little sheep and believe everything you see on that television set. But hey….. you are a mets fan, maybe I should cut you a break.
