Let’s check in on a few of the latest outrights…
- Phillies hurlers Enyel De Los Santos and Trevor Kelley cleared waivers and were outrighted to Triple-A Lehigh Valley on Friday, Todd Zolecki of MLB.com tweets. The Phillies designated both right-handers for assignment in recent days. De Los Santos joined the Phillies in a one-for-one swap with the Padres for infielder Freddy Galvis before 2018. While De Los Santos then had a strong first season in the Phillies’ system, his stock fell last year in a rough showing divided between Triple-A and the majors. Kelley, whom the Phillies claimed off waivers from the Red Sox last winter, allowed four earned runs on eight hits in 3 1/3 innings this year before Philly designated him.
- The Angels outrighted Jose Rodriguez to their alternate site after he cleared waivers. Rodriguez has thrown 21 1/3 innings of 2.53 ERA ball as an Angel since 2019, but he has allowed five home runs, struck out just 13 hitters while walking 12, and logged a 6.72 FIP/6.27 xFIP.

You can pretty much designate the entire Phillies bullpen besides Alvarez and Parker at this point…
badco44
Haha, be thankful you don’t have the Boston pen, most of which have no business being in MLB
NFL's San Diego Waves
The pen in Boston is doing its job perfectly fine. They’re doing their part to get the #1 overall pick.
Assuming Manfred decides to use reverse standings to decide the 2021 draft order.
But, knowing Manfred, he will come up with some stupid method to decide the draft order.

Can we designate Hoskins and pluck Roberto Ramos from the KBO?
DarkSide830
ive wondered about whether or not KBO contracts can be bought out during the year in regards to Ramos. i feel.like the answer is no, but I’d inquire into Ramos for sure. his market this offseason may be robust.
VonPurpleHayes
Hoskins is frustrating, but he walks a lot and sees a ton of pitches. Harper and Realmuto do better when Hoskins is in the lineup.
DarkSide830
im shocked EDLS cleared to be honest. that said, the fact that he has scares me.
Brixton
His stuff is gone
DarkSide830
at 24? where did you see this, summer training?
VonPurpleHayes
He looked real bad in 2019. Even in the minors. It’s amazing that the Phillies can’t catch one single break with bullpen arms.
ctyank7
Another example of the ineptitude of Klentak and MacFail. A complete lack of skills in evaluating talent.
VonPurpleHayes
Absolutely, but honestly some of it is simple bad luck. Some great prospects just not working out. Injuries to huge bullpen pieces. It’s been a nightmare. Even the few times Klentak got it right have somehow backfired.
DarkSide830
getting EDLS for Galvis was a good move.
MikeEmbletonSmellsBad
@DarkSide830 Absolutely. Idk what they expected to get for one year of a complementary piece like Galvis. Nor do I know what Preller was thinking trading anything at all for Galvis given the position the Padres were in at that point.
DarkSide830
to be fair, Galvis has a GG caliber glove at SS. thats about it though.
MikeEmbletonSmellsBad
And a lifetime 77 OPS+ when the Padres traded for him and only one year of control which means he had no value to the rebuilding Padres. There’s a fair argument to be made that trading for Galvis hurt the Padres because he cost them money and hurt their draft position, even if we write EDLS off as a complete bust.
DarkSide830
he was also the INT pitcher of the year in 2018 though.
whosehighpitch
Hoskins is around so everybody has a cool handshake after they score a run. He stinks and I can’t imagine why they continue to run him out on a daily basis
VonPurpleHayes
It’s funny because we had Carlos Santana and essentially moved him for Hoskins who is a slightly less talented Carlos Santana. I love that Hoskins walks a ton and sees a lot of pitches. That’s really valuable, but the guy can’t hit a lick anymore.
DarkSide830
Carlos Santana was 100% underrated by this town. not to say I still don’t like the move away from him, (because im one of few in this town that did and still does like Segura) but he was more productive then people made him out to be. Hoskins essentially trades a few of Santana’s hits for a few extra walks. the real difference though is Santana is a better defensive 1B.
shibbynotdude
Not a great year to do waiver claims. Think about it, you claim a player, they travel by commercial air to get to you. Possibly expose your other camp.
DarkSide830
they probably can hire a private jet for these guys if they want to. (and probably do that fairly frequently)
Yankee Clipper
They outrighted both teams?! Wow, MLB, that’s harsh.
Hard to walk with four balls
I love what a sack of garbage the halos have been.
trout27
Out of the 20 or so pitchers the Angels have used, only 3 were drafted and developed by the club. That is all on Eppler and Swanson for their poor drafting and player development. The Angels need a complete overhaul of the organization, especially player development.

Glad Enyel stuck, still think he can be good
