Pirates Select Yacksel Rios

By Jeff Todd | August 3, 2020 at 4:17pm CDT

The Pirates have selected the contract of righty Yacksel Rios. Fellow right-hander Michael Feliz was moved to the 45-man injured list.

Rios was outrighted off of the 40-man roster in late June. The 27-year-old will now get another shot. He owns a 6.20 ERA through 65 1/3 total MLB frames over the past three seasons.

It’s obviously somewhat ominous news to see Feliz move right onto the lengthier injury list. He came down with forearm issues yesterday. Clearly, the team anticipates a rather lengthy absence for the 27-year-old.

Almost fell out of my chair yesterday when Cora sent Stallings ! That was something out of Hurdle’s playbook. . Plain dumb. 1st and 3rd no Outs? It cost Bucs the game. Cora did stuff like that last year. I was hoping he would get the axe like all the other clowns!

If that play was a success, you would praise Cora. Dang if you do, dang if you don’t for Cora when it comes to bullheaded fans. Even the great Tony LaRosa did some questionable calls that cost Cardinals games and a World Series. It was a bold move on Coras part knowing of the game didn’t end soon, the Cardinals would have prevailed. And later innings after that play, Cardinals won. And what’s to say men on the corners and a DP happened and another out while the guy at 3rd never made it home, you’d complain about not sending Stallings on that single or during the DP knowing he runs like a turtle.

Now tell me Polanco should have pinch run, but knowing his injury history and it being a wet field, poor decision to put him in and he pulls a hammy. I hate being 2-8 as any other Pirates fan, but we have to realize to get a win with this team, they have to get runs with plenty of gambles and luck. Stallings controversial play, is prime example of what the Pirates need to do to win games. Old school play and grit

Great post Shannon. This team needs to be aggressive. Regardless, if Cora sends Stallings or not I’d rather see this team be aggressive, run the bases, steal bags, lay down bunts, and try to scratch across as many runs as possible. Old school play and grit for the win!
