why are we acting like every pitcher is getting $30 AAV now? its hardly the norm, and I dont think following the blueprint of the Verlander deal is what teams want to do.
I read an article talking about how Snell seems to have returned to Ace form.. I’m just grateful the Angels managed to eek out a win against him yesterday.. I wasn’t expecting much.
I like the term “Ace” for a very good pitcher much better than I like the word “stuff” to describe the quality of their actual pitches. If not Ace, what would you prefer?
The problem is that it gets used on pitchers that aren’t, “very good”, so I’d say an alternative for a lot of the times it gets used would be something like….above average.

Scherzer is easily worth the verlander deal. I see no problem with him getting that.
Quietly, Blake Snell is in ACE form. Two of last three outings he took a no hitter into the 7th. And overall very good in last month.
I didn’t put two and two together, but they did fire the pitching coach recently. Could he have had such a negative effect on Snell?
