Blues jays management still not participating in any trades or free agent signing , still sulking
Over not getting Ohtani . Atkins and his cohort should be canned and get someone that knows baseball instead of sitting on their asses doing nothing . This team cannot compete with line up they have no matter most Atkins says. Can u respond

I’m certain they’re not “still sulking Over not getting Ohtani.” Lots of players still available this offseason.

The guys that are left the Jays will not sign
Atkins I quote says this team is good enough to win as it is. San Fran will sign Chapman
and Martinez will go back to Boston and Billinger will go back to Chicago , so who is left

Well, Ted, if you know where those three players are going to sign, why not just tell us how the rest of the signings will turn out? I imagine you’re doing great in the FA predictions contest.

    Padres lack a:

    Lf

    Cf

    Ace

    Dh

    4th and 5th starters

    Ib

And spring training is less than a few months away…

    Padres are in dire straits.

Tow – this isn’t different from the last 10 times. Check how many options are still available to fill those needs.

You have to get off the ledge and enjoy the ride.

I notice you added Ace since your same post yesterday. In addition to an Ace, I think they should sign 3 all stars and 2 HOFers by next Wednesday. What’s wrong with these guys!

they did make a meaningful move … actually moves … they extended machado and traded away one of their best players to the yankees. so i guess you are enjoying the ride then?

you said meaningful move not positive …

it improved the team overall though as they are now under the luxury and not paying taxes freeing them up next year to not be a double tax breaker especially with payroll i believe going up due to tatis and darvish and a lot of quality starting pitchers available next year. .

They also picked up multiple years of talent for all the pitching they acquired for soto which is needed especially when the top two pitchers darvish and musgrove are coming off injuries and are older. Also have some potential with higgy at catcher. Would you have preferred they kept soto and let him walk for draft compensation or a lesser trade value?

They are no where near competing this year with or without soto and grisham. They probably could have signed everything the dodgers signed and still not have a real competitive team but something tells me they dont have that type of payroll available.

You also forget through 2030 they are either over or just at 100M payroll before any signings or arbitration or anything so cheap prospects would be a premium for them to keep payroll at a decent level.

Let’s be reasonable this trade barely keeps the status quo but did little to again address their needs at LF,CF,4th and 5th starters.

This move keeps the team barely afloat.

That time started when they trade Juan Soto. That set the tone for their future.

This team has not improved on last year.

The Padres are worse than they were last year.

Some moves are to address the future, not the immediate. They did the right thing with Soto, seeing as how he wasn’t going to sign an extension, and they got what they could for him, which was obviously better than a comp pick

It really is worth your time if you enjoy sarcasm and tongue-in-cheek comedy. Typically, Jason Bateman plays the straight man, while the rest of the cast riff around a goofy plot.

Several years ago some complained about the same type of thing so the MLBTR writers did a few polls during the chats to see just how many people were offended by a bit of lightheartedness. The results were orverwhelming in favor of a bit of humor,

I would be willing to bet the same would hold true today.

      Moral of the story…….un-clench.

          always – Right you are!

This exact topic of a running joke getting played out was actually covered in a Seinfeld episode titled “The Voice”.

Now THAT TV series can be used for a million references and unlike the obscure AD pretty much everyone over the age of 35 is familiar with Seinfeld.

The HOF ballot should NEVER be increased beyond 10.

The beauty of the balloting is nobody feels forced to select the maximum, if a voter believes only 7 are worthy then he will select only 7.

Increasing the ballot to 15 won’t force voters to select players they don’t feel are worthy, and it’s not like we’ve had years where players were left off because 10 players were inducted. We want to continue inducting only the best of the best, and almost every year there’s between 2-6 players voted in which is a perfect number.

Why do people have to talk about non-baseball stuff on a baseball chat? Come on. 8 different questions not talking anything about baseball. There are a lot of topics from the majors and even the minors and some have to talk about the Oscars.

The guy takes his time and listens to 700 questions of why Dylan Cease isn’t traded to their team and before that it was 900 questions about where Ohtani was going to sign, So if that gives him a chuckle, it’s good as gold to me. Keep rocking, Bees?
