The A’s announced that infielder Alika Williams was acquired in a trade with the Pirates in exchange for minor league righty Kyle Robinson. Infielder Michael Stefanic was designated for assignment to clear space for Williams on the Athletics’ 26-man and 40-man rosters, as the team officially selected Williams’ contract to the active roster.
More to come…

Just want to let everyone know Trevor Cahill is now officially retired. News came via the Hall of Pretty Good IG page.
Huh? A’s barely played Stefanic well this other infielder must be better or something… We will see where this is going…
Thank God. Alika is finally gone!
What on earth is David Forst doing? He’s lost more value in the last year through Rule V and DFA than he’s gained in trades.
Confusing trade even with the Wilson injury. A’s are plenty deep in middle infielders as-is. Robinson is already a solid SP prospect and has far more upside. Either way this is an easy F grade for the simple fact that Williams will probably be DFA within the next 12 months while with SP prospects you can never have too many of those.
These are the kinds of trades I worry about with this org. They seem minor at the time but when this team starts winning they start shipping guys out for marginal additions that aren’t going to help them win any games in October. Next thing you know we’ve got a 1st round team but no prospects left to make any upgrades
Can this guy pitch in relief? Our bullpen is awful.
Probably too far away.
He’s still just 22 years old and he’s good enough to be a starter, he just needs to learn how to up his K rate. Don’t be surprised if next year he climbs your prospect lists into the top ten or fifteen.
Good trade for the Pirates. Williams’ defense is good, but that’s about the only positives you can say about him. He’s Cole Tucker 2.0. Getting anything out of him, let alone a prospect Baseball America ranks top 30 in the A’s system is a very good return.
