The Angels need to focus on Andy LaRoche and Dan Haren as possible trade targets. Bautista and Hank Blaylock could also be a option at 3B.

jose bautista is a bad idea his 50 game suspension is right around the corner

Not every statistical fluke is steroid-related. He’s not for real, but that doesn’t make him a drug user.

I’m sorry, but that is quite possibly the most ignorant thing you could say. I think the real bad idea was your post.

Insert guy’s quote from Billy Madison that was judging the questionnaire portion of the competition about how dumb Billy’s answer was here.
aap212
Mr. Madison, what you have just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.

Jose Bautista would make sense for the Angels. He could fill a much occupied hole at third while also giving the Angels much needed power in the middle of their order. He also doesn’t become a free agent until 2012. The only obstacle to acquiring Bautista would be his asking price from the Blue Jays. With him being under team control for 2 1/2 years and having a breakout year, he’s not gonna come cheaply.

Well that’s weird…..what could have possibly made the Mets war of Ted Lilly? Is it his declining velocity, his declining K rate, the fact that he doesn’t throw his curveball anymore or is the fact that he’s no better than Takahashi?

there’s already one soft tosser in the NL East.. (Moyer)

I wouldn’t count the Yankees out of going after Dan Haren. Remember this is the same team that came out of nowhere when they signed Teixiera at the last minute and surprisingly traded for Granderson. Think about it their going to have two holes in their rotation come next year. Pettitte is retiring and Vazquez is probably gone. If they sign Cliff Lee that’s four. Still need a fifth.

So you’re suggesting that the starting 5 pitchers for the Yankees in 2011 goes like this:
CC
Lee
Haren
Hughes
AJ
Even for the Yankees that is excessive.
RBIBaseball
I mean it probably won’t happen, but it would be really nice. I’m just saying don’t count the yankees out of anything.
Yankees420
I am officially counting the Yankees out of the possibility that they sign Cliff Lee AND trade for Dan Haren, there is just absolutely no way that kind of pipe dream would come to fruition.
RBIBaseball
Well yeah, Dan Haren would be a stetch, but their going to have get a fifth starter for next year. Hopefully Pettitte comes back, or they test out Aceves. But don’t rule out them trading for one.

The Angels are pleased with Napoli and Frandsen and believe Wood is progressing. They will not be trading for an infielder. The Angels are looking for bullpen and rotation help. There’s a good chance they’ll kick the tires on Scott Downs and will definitely see if they can get something worked out with Haren or Oswalt.

Newsflash! The Angels just have too many holes in the offense. The 7,8,9 hitters are useless. 1B-McNaulty and 3B Wood are just killing us. Rivera is also struggling at the plate as well. If they want to compete for a division title this year they need to find a corner infielder that will produce big numbers. I do think Aybar and Matsui will have a great 2nd half but we need help asap.

Why would McGehee be available? Doesn’t he have several more years of arbitration available? I don’t understand why so many players who are still under team control for 2+ years keep coming up in trade talks. It makes no sense for those players to be traded–it defeats the whole point of rebuilding in fact. Yes, teams like the Brewers and Jays aren’t going to make the playoffs this year, but it’s not like they’re the Pirates or anything…
