Dodgers Release Ron Mahay

By Mike Axisa | March 26, 2011 at 12:06pm CDT

The Dodgers have granted Ron Mahay his release according to Dylan Hernandez of The Los Angeles Times (Twitter links). The left-hander was recently informed that he was not going to make the team.

Mahay, 39, signed a minor league deal with the Dodgers last month, but he allowed eight runs and 15 baserunners in 7 1/3 innings this spring. He owns a 3.83 ERA in a career that spans parts of 14 seasons, holding lefties to a .232/.303/.386 line.

It’s true. He was the last of the replacement players still active.

With Brendan Donnelly’s retirement, I believe he was the last scab left.

He’s not quite 40 yet, but the Rangers still might be interested in him. They have the finest collection on antique left-handers in the world. Appraisers value the collection at more than $7.1 million.

Jeez, Rangers really might need him at this rate. Over the past three days: Hunter (injured, out 6-8 weeks), Holland (absolutely rocked), now C.J. Wilson leaves today’s game with a leg injury.

Only one conclusion to draw: God wants Neftali Feliz in the rotation.

He’d look good in an Iron Pigs uniform.

I predict the Royals will sign him within the next 48 hours. They need a LOOGY bad.

Do they need a LOOGY bad, or need a bad LOOGY?

Ron Mahay should join a bar fighting league…he is one dude I don’t wanna mess with. When he was on the Twins with Rauch, we had a dominating ass-kicking duo.
