Angels Sign David Pauley

By Mike Axisa | March 23, 2012 at 9:14pm CDT

The Angels have signed David Pauley to a minor league contract, reports Mike DiGiovanna of The Los Angeles Times (on Twitter). The Octagon client did not receive an invitation to Spring Training according to MLB.com's Alden Gonzalez (on Twitter).

Pauley, 28, was released by the Tigers earlier this month. He posted a 3.16 ERA with 5.4 K/9 and 2.7 BB/9 in 74 innings across 53 relief outings for the Mariners and Tigers in 2011. Detroit acquired Pauley from Seattle in the trade that sent Doug Fister to Detroit. He is not yet arbitration eligible.

My iPhone app notification said Mets, and then when I went to the story it said Angels. Looks like more depth to add to the AAA club.

No worries. Was actually bringing it to your attention in case it was some kind of glitch.

Probably just to fill a hole at AAA.

Probably to keep him from the Mariners.

I was hoping the Mets would sign him.

He would make Pelfrey look decent.

He’s not that bad of a pitcher, he was just having a rough spring. In 2011 he was actually pretty good. He’ll make a good addition to the AAA team and maybe a few appearances in the big leagues.

He was good for the Mariners. He got lit up in his 19.2 innings with the Tigers after the trade and did much of the same in Spring Training.
