Once again the blogs swing and miss. The problem with Crawford isn’t how much he is paid it’s that he’s been on the DL so often. If he is productive, his salary will be immaterial. If he can’t play and/or isn’t productive, $1 is too much. The bottom line is the Dodgers need better options not only in LF but batting leadoff, or they are stuck with Crawford and the hope he doesn’t break again. The Dodgers have done nothing to remedy that situation so unless they do they really can’t afford to trade (let along release!) Crawford.

I don’t think it’s going to be the typical lead off type hitter you’re expecting. It’ll be a platoon type situation. LF isn’t so much the problem because they have multiple guys that can fill that position. The problem is going to be the ability to lengthen the lineup. There’s not going to be a major move there which is ok because you still have a crowded of. Kike is still a viable option to lead off. I can see them hoping Crawford can get through 81 games at that lead off/ utley.

Perhaps Fowler?
