I imagine no matter where he catches on, it’ll have to be on a MiLB deal.

At this point it looks like Aaron hills gonna be there utility guy.

I’d like to wish Gordon the best of luck on his career in Japan!
yanksfan12
Yankees could put him at short stop

You must be a Red Sox fan to come up with an idea that bad.

Can a team approach a “non roster invitee” that is fighting for a job and therefore not actively on another team’s MLB roster? Like could another team have come to him and said “you’re having a great spring but you’re not going to make that 40 man, come play for us instead”?
I think Beckham was signed to a minors deal so this question wouldn’t apply to him, but always curious as to how this works.
mikecws91
No. Being a non-roster invitee just means you’ve signed a minor league deal and are working out in major league camp.

Unless there’s an opt-out

off the record I am sure they can do whatever they want and show interest in the player, I would also imagine that the team that has him as an invitee could very well contest if the player drops out and immediately signs with another team – if the team was planning on releasing them though it would be another story
JKB 2
Well he cannot just drop out. Non roster invitee is just someone on a minor league contract who is not on the 40 man roster. So he cannot just “drop out” nor can another team approach him

I wonder if New York brings him in with Didi being down

Bend it like Beckham

Good luck, Gordon Beckham. I enjoyed watching him play with Sox, and if it were up to me, I’d bring him back to Chicago. In any case, I hope he signs with another MLB team.
ChiSoxCity
Uh, no.
SuperCooper
Worst thing Sox did was not trade him after first season when his value was sky high.

I am surprised he held on to a MLB roster spot for as many years as he did. That 1st round draft status, year one production and being a pretty good clubhouse guy bought him more time.
