Guess that’ll be the 25th guy.
GoPackGo12
Great deal for the Crew. Right away will slot in as our second/third guy out of the pen
SamFuldsFive
Never a good sign when another teams garbage is your 2nd or 3rd guy haha
gmflores27
Not every roster is as great as the roster of your favorite team bud…
chesteraarthur
that’s not even relevant to what he said?
stricke3
Not! A head case who has controlled his emotions and gotten somewhat better results nor recently. Not with it for me. Especially for a young rebuilding team.
retire21
Head case?
Starrchild45
I can now understand why Scahill

Hughes is best used as a guy you bring in to put out the fire of a bases loaded jam, as his great ability is to induce a double play. He has been so well at this his whole career, but it really doesn’t show up in the stats.
He really is best used this way rather than in long relief, though he also has come through big time in that capacity as well. But a guy like that you want to save until you need that double play grounder.
Great guy too, very involved in the community and an awesome teammate.

the 2nd ex bucco on the brewers they shouldn’t of dumped. Pirates, man they’re gonna need all the pen help they can get with their sophmore starters. And Keon Broxton? yeah how is that Jason Rodgers trade working out? McCutchen, Polonco, Marte. Broxton could of been a 4th OF. They gave up on him too soon. good luck jared!
66TheNumberOfTheBest
To his credit, Broxton has really improved as a player, but absolutely no one said one word about getting rid of him at the time. He looked to be nothing more than a pinch runner.
Rogers is pretty useless, though.
I figured Hughes would catch on with the Reds or Brewers. Good luck to him in all but a dozen or so games a year.

Braxton is lucky that he is on a team that gives him a chance to play. Hansen gives the Pirates what Broxton gave them. A bench guy with base steeling ability. They don’t need a true 4th outfielder because it their is a serious injury, they bring up Meadows. Otherwise they have several guys to fill in out in the outfield to give a guy a day off. Hughes was fun to watch but las t year and this spring was prone to HR balls. Was leaving pitches up. They have better RH relievers in the pen now and guys who the will want to use in the pen in Indy that have much higher ceilings and are as good as Hughes is now. Sad to see Hughes go but this is not the end of the world

Didn’t the Pirates get AA Broxton from The DBacks for a bag of marbles?
Robertowannabe
They purchased him from AZ.

Harvey D82 —-“Could Of”??? Try “Could Have”. “Could of” makes no sense.

Quit while you’re behind. You now come off as not only illiterate, but also a baby.
lesterdnightfly
He doesn’t get rave reviews for lack of repetitiveness, literacy, or maturity.

What is Inside Pirates Baseball going to do without Jared Hughes? He was on that show more than Potash.
Starrchild45
That’s funny!!
joew
HAHAHA yeah. Good guy… i was hoping the bucs would be able to resign on a cheaper deal.. oh well
jayceincase
I am not a brewers fan, but I am hopeful for their future. I like Shaw and he translates well to the ballpark. Even if Villar regresses, he will still be good for 40 steals. I am excited to see the progress Ray, Diaz and Erceg make this season. They need pitching in the worst way.
chesteraarthur
I am not a bewers fan per se, either, but I like what they are doing a lot.
afsooner02
It’s a long term rebuild but just about every trade they have made so far has been good/great. I feel for cravy and scahill but on Milwaukee, they should realize that they will likely be call ups at some point when we trade the current bullpen pieces away.
