George is indeed turning over in his grave with this clown!

“Both can play all three outfield positions.”
That’s a heck of a lot of range, to have two guys covering all three positions at once.
With that alignment, a team can add a fifth infielder; or, in the case of the Padres, multiple rookie catchers….

Sounds like something Joe Maddon would do.

Or a 2nd pitcher, with a 2nd ball. Let’s mix it up a little! Haha

I wonder what Cashman could have gotten for Cano.
MB923
I think that all depends on who would have needed him at the time. Certainly not the Mariners since they had a very poor year that year (finished 71-91).
Flat out guess but I think the A’s would have made a run for him. One of the best teams in the AL that year but were very weak at 2B. Or maybe the Braves. One of the best teams in the NL that year but also very weak at 2B.
hoohaa
They should have just put aside that stupid “steal a Boston player” to please the fans policyearlier and resigned Cano instead of dropping that lump on Ellsbury.
Connorsoxfan
Yeah but I’m thankful Boston didn’t do it for Ellsbury now, though I wasn’t happy at the time because I really liked him.

I’m a Yankee fan and I’m not unhappy with Ellsbury. He had a good year one and has been up and down. He gets hurt by the expectations of the contract he signed.
