They could get Verlander in the offseason, but they would have to trade players from their major league roster to do so.
I don’t think there’s a fit anymore.
The cupboard is bare. And Schwarber isn’t worth what he was a year ago.
Why he is aging and he would want a multi year deal!
Remember when people said Verlander was a back-of-the-rotation starter?
I still don’t think he’s worth that large contact, it will take a lot more starts like yesterday to justify that amount of money
Verlander isn’t worth 28 mil per, but if he were to hit FA this winter I bet he’d get offers like 2/46-48, maybe even 3/60. I’m a diehard Tigers fan and hope he stays, even if it prolongs the rebuild. I’m old enough to have seen Kaline play and if JV retires a Tiger he will be revered similarly to Kaline.
