“Awful” I’m only pointing this out because I saw you misspell “Guarantee” in your last post. I don’t really care but you probably shouldn’t be misspelling those words. Inevitably someone else is going to jump all over you for that.

This is true but when you’re hometown team is never recognized and also written off less than 30 days into the season, it’s time for change, we either voice our opinion or we quit reading these post, I rather enjoy the post, but they are so redundant on the same people or teams that it gets boring, change it up a little ,give the losing teams a little paper time, It get old seeing the same article day in day out.

It would be easy to write an article about those teams. There are gas some very good players on those teams. I would love to see an article about kluber… maybe a career analysis of miguel cabrera… what the championship royals are doing just a few years later… a career report on mauer… veteran report on Marlins like prado and Castro. Compare alfaro and realmuto. Anything besides these love stories of the yankees.

We can only answer questions in chats that we receive. People aren’t asking about teams like the Marlins and Orioles for good reason – those teams are tanking and the only purpose of their 2019 seasons are to acquire future assets. So we can answer a few questions about their trade chips, when they come in. Which we do.

As for writing positive things about the Rangers for the sake of being positive, that’s not how I roll. They don’t really want to win in 2019, they made little effort in the offseason toward that goal, and I’m not going to pretend otherwise. One thing I definitely don’t try to do in chats is say something nice about each team.

Martin is having quite a comeback this year! All jokes aside I’d read a piece on the Marlins. If you guys did an in depth piece on them and their farm/young guys. I know they’ve had some pitchers come out and perform this year. That’d be a one shot deal though because like the O’s there isn’t a whole lot to say right now. It’s a rebuild.

Tell us how Ellsbury might not play for a little while. Tell us how great the Yankees scouting department is for stealing Voit from the Cards.

Lol I love how people don’t ask questions in chats and then come on here and complain that other people aren’t asking questions about their team. MLBTR seems to cover every team to me, and sure they cover big name players and prospects more than small name players who aren’t performing particularly well.

Martin Prado is not doing very well and hasn’t been for 5 years. I’d read it but I have a feeling that that writeup would not be very exciting

I send multiple questions each time. This time I reminded Tim that Boyd was on the Mariners radar late last year and if he thought a trade might happen. Boyd is from the northwest.
Prado is doing better than Ellsbury… how many times have we read about him? Tulo? Bird? These guys love them some Yankee Rumors. They should just change the name of this site.

Tons of questions go unanswered the problem is the lack of variety of the questions MLBTR gets so caught up with the big name stuff they are willing to answer the same questions just with a different big market team. Example: kimbrel they were answering 4-5 kimbrel questions a chat yet no real news has come out in months. It’s easier to go with the common headlines. I would prefer MLBTR do more in depth full team analysis as the season progresses as things change. Would help keep writers in touch with all 30 teams. I agree most of the teams written off at beginning of season getting less attention.

The difference is that those guys are injured and there are updates on their availability. Prado is playing just not well. A better comparable would be Brett Gardner. He isn’t injured, he just plays and not particularly well. He gets no coverage either despite playing on the Yankees

“One thing I definitely don’t try to do in chats is say something nice about each team.”

That was hilarious and completely necessary lol.

I honestly think an amusing and informative column would be something about the bad moves these teams made (or didn’t make) that put them in this predicament they are in. Orioles and Chris Davis come to mind as an easy example. I still to this day talk about what if the Red Sox had favored Rizzo over Lars Anderson about a decade ago. Think about all the 1st basemen that have come through Fenway since Anthony and Lars were well-regarded prospects and the staple Rizzo would have been in this lineup. Cubbies got him for nothing.

I wouldn’t mind seeing more “throwback” “deal or no deal” columns. You’ve done some from time to time in other fashion that have been very well done. Just a random idea that came up from your comment.

I was referring more about the articles on MLBTR. But if you want to claim equal treatment of all teams because he mentioned a players name once and they write long meandering articles about Jacoby Ellsbury, that’s fine. I see you have thrown out common sense for your loyalty to MLBTR.

What if they’d have kept Rizzo and Shaw? The left handed power they would have given them on the corners… that would have been a lineup.

I love Tim’s chats because he tends to take more intelligent questions then Jeff or some others. No offense meant Jeff, you’re still awesome too and I enjoy your chats as well. Just prefer to hear about the teams in the current mix, even when it doesn’t include the Red Sox. Teams like the Cubs, Yanks and Dodgers have earned the coverage and there’s a lot of moves coming in places like Boston if things don’t turn around fast.

Not to say “who cares” but there’s not much to say about teams that are attempting to tank multiple seasons which represents 1/3 to 1/2 of the league. I know teams like the Marlins, Rangers, Orioles and more want more coverage, but anytime Tim, Jeff or anyone else speculates on what these teams are doing, is uninteresting to 99% of the rest of the league because its just speculation about what a team might look like in 3-4 years or how they get there. That’s not a MLB trade rumor and its really hard to do with any level of accuracy.

Right now you got a few big stories going on in baseball. Red Sox playing awful. Yankees persevering through the most injuries I’ve ever seen in my life (props to Boone & Cashman for the teamwork making this happen). Vladdy Jr. Padres young superstars. Harper and the Phillies “stupid money”. These are the storylines that baseball fans care about right now. In 2-3 years when the Rangers are a dominant force in the AL West again they will have their day. Same goes for the rest of the teams.

Too many times nowdays I feel like I”m looking at MLBTR and its like writers are just trying to find something to cover on a team that’s not doing much at the moment. I miss the good ol’ days… There’s a reason there’s 400-600 comments on an AL East thread and 30 on a Marlins thread most of which just say the same thing.

Paraphrasing, but teams you said look good for the play-offs, Yanks, Indians, and Astros, also coming on, Nats, Cubs, Dodgers. No mention of the Cards, who have played arguably the toughest schedule. Seems appropriate to me!

He didn’t mention TB or the Twins either.

He mentioned one team in each division. He believes in the Cubs better than the Cardinals. Could he be wrong?… Of course.

This is not dissing the Cards.

He did mention the Rays. And one can make a case for the Twins, but they didn’t win 88 games, and add Goldschmidt. If one mentions teams he believes in, and then excludes the 17-10, first place Red Birds, in a tough division, with a tough schedule, I think it can be taken as a diss.

Do you realize he’s talking about Fan Graphs playoff odds predictions?

As far as the Rays, he’s talking about them overtaking the Red Sox.

          75.9 vs 49.2

But if you want to know the Cardinals playoff odds, it’s 59.1. A little below the Cubs, but less than the Twins and TB.

Wouldn’t read too much into that, I’m just saying there’s little surprising atop the divisions aside from the Red Sox/Rays thing. I believe the Cardinals have every bit as much of a chance at winning the division as the Cubs, but I believed that before the season too.

Definitely fair on the tough schedule, but I think people expected the Brewers / Cubs atop the division in 2019 (at least Vegas, when I say “people”).

I think knowing Tim is a Cubs fan may have given you some preconceived notions about what he meant by his statement.

I’ve been shocked all year by the overhype of the Nats… Its not a 4 team race and it never was. Its a 3 team race and the Nats get to play spoiler. I said this early in spring training on another thread.

However, the Nats will stay relevant because that division is so competitive that the 1st and 4th place teams are only separated by 4 games. Its just the most interesting division in baseball this year, by a game and a half margin. I’m not counting the AL West because I don’t think anyone thinks the Rangers play to this point has been sustainable and I always thought Oakland’s performance last year wasn’t repeatable. I do not believe at all in the bullpen game. Relying on 6 or 7+ guys to be on point to make it through a game may work one year, but with the volatility of relievers, it was never going to hold. And with the new rules, its going to go as fast as it came.

Its a 2 team race in the West between the Astros and Mariners, and one that the Stros are unlikely to lose.

Its like people expect them to start generating speculation instead of rumors based on their baseball knowledge. Not bad questions. Usually the wrong forum though.

For free… operative phrase here. It’s like some people going every day to the free donut stand, and every day complaining there aren’t any strawberry filled powder donuts etc. Take a free donut, say thank you and move along. If you want, occasionally comment on how nice it would be if there was a strawberry filled powder donut every once in a while. But if that’s what you’re looking for exclusively and you know you’ve never seen one here, dont set yourself up for disappointment everytime. Just look elsewhere. Or go buy one.
