MLBPA Denies “Reports Of An Agreement”

By Jeff Todd | June 17, 2020 at 2:06pm CDT

There may well be a breakthrough, but the Major League Baseball Players Association left no doubt that there isn’t yet a deal on a 2020 season. The MLBPA’s official Twitter account just issued a rather terse statement: “Reports of an agreement are false.”

It’s understandable that the union doesn’t wish to allow a perception of a done deal when it just received a proposal for Major League Baseball. No doubt there are quite a few important aspects of the negotiations still to be handled.

At the same time, it’s important to bear in mind that there really hasn’t been a clear report indicating that the sides do have a deal — even in spirit.

If there is any progress it is because Dr. Fauci announced MLB should not be playing past September and that weakens the grievance argument and the demand for 114 games.

The players don’t have a legitimate grievance.

Disneyland is Opening next month. How’s that going to work out?

Imagine thinking Disneyland is going to open next month, do you not know how things work?

California will see a spike and then everything shuts down again. Because we live in the stupidest timeline, we could have just gone on martial law for 14 days and totally killed the virus by having it die off in peoples houses, but nooooo, we have karens and b00mer scum acting like not going outside is worse than getting hunted and murdered by police. Worst society ever.

One of the presidents biggest donors is Arte Morono. The Angels should be forced to fold because of that reason alone.

OK.. Disneyland is planning on reopening next month.

“we have karens and b00mer scum ‘

          Hyperbolize much?

By the way, if everyone took the month of March off, this would be over. So the people not spreading this are far from scum.

Just because an owner donates to a president you don’t like does not mean the team should fold or the owner needs to sell. Please provide stats that back up people are being hunted (unarmed),and the numbers better be hundreds of thousands are more for any given year.

You can always leave the country, Strike Four if you hate it this much. I hear France is lovely this time of year. Stick to baseball topics please.

France IS nice this time of the year. Especially because they took their covid mitigation plan seriously and even though they spiked early like we did, they have their virus situation under control now (as does Italy and Spain). Not the U.S. tho. When one half of our country despises the other (the Divider in Chief greatly facilitating this), it’s pretty hard to be unified even during a public health crisis. Thus, France, New Zealand and pretty much ALL other developed nations are better off than the grand ole USA (regarding covid). But still,
          I’m hoping for baseball!

Italy for example has a population of 60.36 million; US 328.2 million
OK if Italy had percentage wise our population their death toll would be
187,306 deaths. I could bore everyone here by listing the other countries but save your hate and lets stick to baseball.

A person who is a fan of a sport that lists averages should know that

Cano, I have no hate. I do have opinions tho. My only point was, all three countries I mentioned have had a unified approach and their cases, per capita, have all become manageable. We are not unified, and we peaked in April and we really haven’t seen our numbers decrease substantially, anywhere since. We’re still peaking. That’s all I was trying to say. I wish good health to ALL people, and to all of you, lovers of the great game we all miss so much!

Finally let this be the thing that makes Jon Heyman get fired.

What an incompetent sociopath that guy is. He created this whole “making up rumors to fill word counts” sports media that disgustingly is the norm now. Just out here telling lies and getting 1/1000 right means he’s good at his job? NOPE.

FIRE JON HEYMAN AND NEVER HIRE HIM AGAIN.

I really detest what is on TV. I would listen to Gary Thorne cover Orioles/Marlins On MASN compared to anything else on TV ( except Golf and Hockey).

Well, nobody reported they did agree. on a deal, but just getting close.

Seeing that no players are tweeting about this, especially Bauer and Doolittle, kinds of gives me the impression that the owners and union are ironing some issues out but likely will get done.

My guess on the final games is 66
