The Mariners have optioned veteran righty Bryan Shaw and infielder/outfielder Jose Marmolejos, the club announced. Both will go to the team’s alternate training site.
It isn’t entirely clear whether Shaw has consented to the assignment. With more than five years of MLB service, he has the right instead to reject it in favor of free agency.
Shaw, 32, is still being paid by the Rockies under his free agent contract. He landed with the Seattle organization after being cut loose. After one initial scoreless appearance, the once-excellent setup man has surrendered three or more runs in each of his past three outings.
wow never seen an accepted option before

Well 3.1 inning of 10 hits, 10 runs, 4 walks and 1 strikeout will make that decision vs trying free agency a very easy choice.
He’s getting his salary regardless, at least he shows he’s interested in actually getting things right and not just pull a paycheck. Good luck to him.
Scott Servais says Shaw has agreed to go to the alternate site and is “all in.”
Shaw sucks. If he doesn’t consent, he is also not smart.
Evan White might need a little help remembering how to hit a fastball, but it’s still early enough that he might be able to adjust without a demotion. Watching him in the field is fascinating, so I really hope he can put it all together soon.
Evan said multiple F bombs on the way back to the dugout today. He needs a day off at the least. It might do him some good to go down and hit off Shaw. That should raise anyone’s confidence.
Still cant believe Cleveland did not bring back shaw lol.
