The Giants have selected the contract of right-hander Zack Littell, as Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle first reported. In other moves, the Giants designated outfielder Skye Bolt for assignment, recalled outfielder Steven Duggar and optioned infielder Jason Vosler, Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area tweets.
Still just 25 years old, Littell joined the Giants on a minor league contract over the winter after spending parts of three seasons in the majors with the Twins, who acquired him from the Yankees in 2017. Littell totaled 63 2/3 innings in the bigs from 2018-20 and posted a 4.52 ERA/4.70 SIERA with a 17.6 percent strikeout rate, an 8.3 walk rate and a 39.2 percent groundball mark. After Littell surrendered seven earned runs on 12 hits (including five home runs) over 6 1/3 frames in 2020, the Twins outrighted him.
Bolt, 27, joined the Giants as a waiver claim from the Athletics on April 5. He wound up appearing in just two of the Giants’ games and picking up one plate appearance before they designated him. Bolt still has a minor league option remaining, and he was once a decently regarded prospect, so another team could try to acquire him via waivers or trade in the next week.

Vosler being optioned must mean Giants feel Longo is fully healthy. Glad Duggar is in over Bolt, don’t know why they let Bolt on the roster in the first place. Hoping for Heliot Ramos by late June

Seems like it was about depth but after acquiring tauchman he is redundant
Sadler
I think the Tauchman trade said all we need to know about how the Giants feel about both Bolt and Duggar.

Lmfao what? How so? Tauchmann is 30 years old. Duggar and Bolt are both still 27. Tauchmann is nothing more than a 4th/5th outfielder/extra guy for this season, and in no way affects the long term view on Duggar, tf? For the last two years Duggar’s been viewed as nothing more than a hopeful Gregor Blanco replacement at some point, and he still has a year+ to see if he can stick it as a 4th/5th outfielder, regardless of a Wandy Peralta trade♂️
It’s not like Wandy Peralta was some borderline All-Star reliever, he had a 5.40 ERA with SF this year, 3.29 in last year’s shortened season, and 5.67 in 2019(6.09 in CIN/3.18 in 8 games w/SF).
He also had 5.36 era in 2018 w/CIN.
Trade chip for another “5th OF before he gets DFA’d” is about all Wandy was worth, as the Giants would rather try out Tauchmann than have to fight other 4 or 5 teams from offering deals, and the Yankees obviously wanted something over just DFAing him, ya know?
This is another Farhan low risk moves is all. Sure they bring in Mike Yastrzemski’s, Dickerson’s, Solano’s and Kevin Gausman’s, but there’s also the fair share of Drew Stubb’s, Andrew Triggs, Joey Rickard, Daniel Robertson, Tyler Heinemann, Justin Smoak, Tyler Austin, Erik Kratz, Michael Reed, Conner Joe, Aaron Altherr, Corban Joseph, Christian Adames, Mike Gerber, Nick Vincent, Burch Smith, Enderson Franco, Williams Jerez, Travis Bergen, Jandel Gustave, Yangervis Solarte etc etc I could go on but I think the horse is already dead here.
Low risk signings with the possibility of a Yaz that’s 30 with nearly 0 service time, meaning even when he finished 8th in MVP, he’ll still be 5 years from any real contract. He’s making the minimum while producing as the team’s best player. That’s how Farhan operates. Guys like Barry screwed over the rights of minor leaguers(must have 6 years service time to negotiate contract in FA) and there will probably be a strike soon due to more and more GM’s exploiting this method

They say it is the littell moves that have the biggest impact
Datashark
This has got to be Duggar last stand….he has fizzled over the years.
Tauchman seemingly is the replacement for the hope they had for duggar
Skye Bolt never will live up to the name
Vosler seemed like a decent fill-in but I assume there is the last kick of tires on Duggar.
Seems like after they kick Duggar tires they might have to kick Jaylen Davis tires again see if he is worth anything other than a poor man’s dave kingman
claude raymond
Davis is on 60 day injured list until midJune

Duggar is 3 years younger than Tauchmann.
Their hope for Duggar is no more than Gregor Blanco. A solid 4th/5th outfielder.
30yo Tauchmann doesn’t all of the sudden make a 27yo w/options disappear. That age matters. 32yo Denard Span was a WHOLE lot different than 29yo Denard Span.
It’s obvious now the outfield is some variation of Ramos, Dubon and Yaz, with some Dickerson in left and Ramos/Yaz in CF some days. I’d say next years opening day OF group is Ramos/Dubon/Yaz w/Dickerson and Slater/Duggar on the bench.
That starting outfield *should* be one of their better all around outfield groups in a long time, too.
There’s also a chance Crawford falls off the planet next season and Dubon becomes our SS. LaStella is on a 3yr deal so I’d assume if Solano doesn’t age like fine wine, cheese and Marco Scutaro, LaStella is next up at 2nd base.
Luciano is hopefully the SS in 2 years though of course, but Dubon is a nice piece to have just in case Luciano requires a position change♂️

Skye Bolt would be an awesome quarterback name!
LordD99
Or a racehorse.

The Giants were hoping to find lightning in a bottle. Alas
zacharydmanprin
Curious how Skye Bolt fit in with the Giants clubhouse.
boachthecoach
Wondering the same thing, seemed like such an uncharacteristic move from the giants when they picked him up, since they usually tend to focus very heavily on who their players are as people, and what they value
Dumpster Divin Theo
Yeah, seemed like Sky Bolt just burst in out of nowhere. Just fell in unexpectedly. A mystery
extreme113
And yet they keep Nick Tropeano at the alternate site.

The Giants. Lol

The Pads are getting better., but so are the Giants.
Hope Tatis hits a bundle of HRs tonight…but that the Giants still win! 🙂

Skye Bolte, Sixto Sanchez, Antonia Bastardo, Corbin Burnes are all lesser known players with Grade A MLB names. Any other additions?
DarkSide830
Warwick Sapould
Bart Harley Jarvis
Chadwick Tromp, if you’re into that sort of thing…

Tim Lincecum is a too big a name for a bagger at Safeway IMO. Always destined for spectacular rise AND fall.
