Not making it there- Padres are picking him at 27 I think it’s almost a done deal

I don’t agree with all of these picks, but i totally love the time you put into it.

Though, I think Leiter goes to Texas and if Leiter goes to Texas I could see Boston taking Rocker underslot.

I think if Leiter goes #2 then Boston takes either Jobe or Davis, but I’m a big fan of Rocker and he could totally go there

In this mock they would have Joe Mack fall right into their laps if they wanted him as a catcher

From what I’ve heard, Henry Davis may even go above Leiter. Davis is a really interesting pick. There are some concerns about his glove, but one of the top 3 teams picking are absoultey going to pick him in the hopes they can improve his defense.

“Which of the Core 4 (Baez, Bryant, Contreras, Rizzo) do you see staying and going?”

“From most to least likely, Bryant/Rizzo/Baez/Contreras is my order, and I can easily be talked into switching Rizzo and Baez”

Is that most to least likely staying? Or most to least likely going?

That strikeout call on Gurriel in the 9th inning was complete BS, he totally checked his swing. Wasn’t that close. Big market officiating.

        It’s ok Wally.

The Astros can discuss the injustice of it all whilst every other team is busy working on their first couple of draft picks….

If Leiter falls to the Red Sox at #4 there should be an investigation.

Cody Bellinger, who in his worst full season had a 120 OPS+, who has a RotY and an MVP, who might be the best defensive outfielder in MLB, and is about to turn 26, is clearly a one hit wonder.

I’m so glad Mark mentioned what most of us already know, Moneyball was a farce! It was the pitching staff, particularly the starting rotation, and Miggy that carried those Oakland teams.

    Fun Fact of the Day:

The Reds are the ONLY team in MLB that has gone longer than Oakland without winning a LCS game.

The last time the A’s won an LCS game was 1992.

Not coincidentally, 1993 is when Beane was promoted to Assistant GM and began the whole Moneyball thing with Alderson.

29 years later and Beane is still Executive VP of Baseball Operations for Oakland.

Why is Beane still there after nearly 3 decades of failure?

Because they have had more success than they should have in that city and market. The team had good pitching in the early 2000s when “money ball” was a thing because billy brought them in. He’s not there because of some book, he’s there because he’s good at his job.
