Rangers Place Three On Covid-19 List

By Steve Adams | August 23, 2021 at 11:55am CDT

The Rangers have placed infielder Brock Holt and right-handers Drew Anderson and Mike Foltynewicz on the Covid-19-related injured list, per a club announcement. Lefty Wes Benjamin and first baseman Curtis Terry are up from the taxi squad to fill spots on the active roster, but the Rangers will play today’s game with a 25-man active roster. Texas has also scratched catcher Jonah Heim due to Covid protocols and will start Jose Trevino behind the dish instead, per an additional announcement. Heim has not yet been placed on the Covid-related injured list.

Today’s placements come just days after Charlie Culberson was placed on the Covid IL. They’ll leave the Rangers with a rather short-handed bench and likely result in some additional roster machinations in the days to come. However, while the Rangers are down a pair of third basemen — Holt and Culberson — Evan Grant of the Dallas Morning News tweets that a promotion of top third base prospect Josh Jung is “not in the plans” for the team. Yonny Hernandez and Andy Ibanez will split time at the hot corner while Holt and Culberson are away from the team.

The Rangers now have four open spots on the 40-man roster and will be able to promote players from Triple-A — even those not on the 40-man roster — as replacements without needing to subsequently pass them through waivers in order to return them to Round Rock once Holt, Anderson, Foltynewicz and Culberson make their returns.

I would be really interested in seeing the number of people on the Covid list in 2020 vs 2021. It seems like there are just as many people getting the disease this year over last year.

I have been wearing a mask everywhere I go since March 13, 2020. Don’t make assumptions based on a simple question. My point was that if there are just as many problems as last year, should we have crowds in the stands?

My reply not directed at you personally.

Should not be fans in stands.

Same answer for all sports, concerts, fairs, etc.

Authorities jumped the gun. Now we all suffer for maybe 3-5 more years? Who knows.

I’m sure there are as many or more getting it this year. Things have opened up and the Delta is way more contagious. Vaccines will keep you from getting serious symptoms but you can still catch and spread it. So mask up indeed to protect your fellow citizens.

Just drove home from Texas, 30 miles north of Austin, through Louisiana, Mississippi, Alabama, all of these places are getting hammered. We walk into places and we’re the only ones wearing masks. Virginia, most not. We get back to semi rural Pennsylvania and about half the people are wearing masks. Tested negative when we got home. What a spit storm. (That was the test.)

Most experts feel that Delta has peaked in the South and is on a downward trend, although the next few weeks will still be tough on hospitals. This would follow the trend that India and other countries have experienced.

Delta has already won, but the symptoms appear sooner than the variant we dealt with last year, so it shouldn’t be as drawn out. Now on to the Epsilon variant, which has shown to be more resistant to the vaccine. It doesn’t seem to be more virulent though, according to those who are much smarter that I am on the subject.

Delta has not peaked in the South. It will peak after schools all resume and kids bear the brunt of this wave. They’ll spread it back home to relatives who have stayed shut in and it will peak in October (as stated previously by the CDC)

And is that your opinion that Delta is actually real? I mean, there’s no test right now that will tell anyone they have the Delta variant. As far as I know, a politician in office pulled it out of their bum and proclaimed that the Delta variant is here and people need to freak the fk out now!

It’s clearly a money grab scheme that they are doing now, as well as a scare tactic, to get more Americans to get the deathly jab, as 32% of Americans are vaxxed.

OK cool, so how do you know you have the Delta and not the ‘Rona? I mean, there’s literally no test to tell you you have the Delta, so how do you know it’s the Delta and not the ‘Rona? Doesn’t make sense to be this scared. Just stay home if you don’t want to get the Delta, Lambda, Psi, Omega, Alpha and maybe stay out of the fraternities and sororities, as well.

You sure are a prime example of an ignorant fool spreading misinformation and lies.

1- Worldwide the fatality rate is 2% and not the .3% that you anti-vax crowd like to promote. That is a factor of 7 in case your math skills are not great .
2- While no rapid test can determine the variant, gnome sequencing done in national labs can . State/National health labs do in fact randomly sequence a sufficient sample size of positive tests to determine which variant is most prevalent.
3- Your comment about ” while we go out and do what we want” is a prime example of the selfish me me attitude that will prolong this for everyone. Not to mention increase the risk of future variants that are more contagious/ resistant to the vaccine and deadly.
4- Your comment about the deadly vax is proof you are truly stupid or even worse purposely spreading dangerous lies. In which case you should be held accountable. With closing in on 3 billion doses world wide there is 0 wide spread outcry against the “deadly ” vaccine. This is for the fringe conspiracy nuts , the clinically insane or both .

Now grow the FK up and cut out your B.S. Sorry but I had to stoop to your level as logic and reason do not work for those totally lacking in both.

Hope you aren’t talking to me, I’m not worried about any of it. Don’t like how this country is pushing this vaccine down our throat when it loses effectiveness in a few months, so now they are pushing the booster. I’ve had COVID as most probably have, and I’ll get the next strain if necessary before I get the jab. But they sure will shoot down the use of hydroxychloroquine and ivermectin, even though other countries are using them with success.

Nothing to do with any of those networks, and I never said it was authorized for use for COVID. But they can’t have a discussion? Why are videos being censored on youtube, facebook, etc., yet it is approved in South Africa for compassionate use for Covid-19, and many other African and South American countries? All you will hear from these news outlets is that Ivermectin is a dewormer for livestock…But it has been approved 40 years for human use. You would never hear these outlets refer to penicillin, doxycycline, tramadol, etc as an animal drug first, so why Ivermectin? It is a very safe drug to take according to the World Healthcare Organization. So why censor it?
But yet they will approve a vaccine in a few months without knowing long-term effects. I am not anti-vaccine, I have had plenty. But for a vaccine that loses it effectiveness in a few months and shows that it is probably resistant to the Epsilon strain, I will take the antibodies I already have from catching it the first time. I donate platelets /RBC’s every 3 weeks, and I’m still showing positive 8 months out.
You know damn well if Trump was urging employers to mandate vaccine for their employees or face the consequences, you would be against it. Just like our current Vice-President said she wouldn’t take the vaccine Trump pushed through. It’s amazing how quickly we forget.

I would not be against it at all but he would not do that , none of the populist leaders would because it is about getting re-elected not what should be done for the good of the people.

Context matters when talking about Biden/Harris making those statements. They said they would not take a vaccine that was pushed out the door by Trump prematurely for political reasons ( When he was exerting pressure for it to be approved before the election and Pfizer was saying mid Nov by earliest.)

I’ll go with the recommendations of the health services of the US/EU/UK/Canada and Australia over S. Africa the # 175th healthcare system in the World.

Studies out of the Uk are showing a efficacy drop of only 6-10% for “risk of infection” with very little drop in prevention of serious cases or death . ( Again context matters )

Half truths and incomplete information are partially to blame for the Vaccine resistance in the US. You people argue about the long term effects but the same can be said of getting the virus while unvaccinated. With 3 “BILLION” doses worldwide there has been only a tiny fraction with adverse effects.

The larger the population of unvaccinated the greater the risk of serious mutations.

“Political Reasons” as you stated, sum this whole thing up. The problem is that those same health services of the countries you mentioned haven’t figured it out either. ‘Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask. Two weeks to stop the spread, then lock the whole thing down. We are good, oh wait, now we aren’t. If you are vaccinated, you can go mask-free. Wait, check that. Put it back on.”
If it were truly this bad, why wouldn’t we lock down the border? Last week at an illegal alien holding facility in Laredo,Texas, 40% of those detained tested positive. 40%!!! And those are the ones we caught! At least 15% of those detained in McAllen tested positive. If this was such a big deal, the borders, north and south, as well as those on the coasts would be shut down, lock and key.
So yes, “political reasons.” At least in the US.

The great state of Texas having to send their citizens out of state for treatment.

          Fox News- Aug -24-2021
An entire town in Texas was forced to shut down after half of the residents tested positive for COVID-19.

Iraan, the west Texas town of 1,200, has had a 42% positivity rate with 50 people being infected within a two-week span in August, according to Iraan General Hospital CEO Jason Rybolt, CNN reported.

Rybolt also cited a low number of ICU beds available in Texas, saying that one patient even had to be airlifted to an out-of-state hospital to receive care.

Texas has experienced a scarcity of ICU beds due to lack of mask-wearing, low vaccination rates, and the highly contagious delta strain of COVID-19.

To save space for patients with COVID-19, Texas Gov. Greg Abbott requested that hospitals postpone elected surgeries.

The Iraan-Sheffield Independent School District even had to shut down schools after five days of classes because about a quarter of the school’s staff tested positive for coronavirus in addition to 16% of students either being infected or exposed to the virus.

Abbot previously issued an executive order banning city and county mask mandates, which also includes schools, as well as vaccine mandates, Fox 7 reported.

Texas – The great state of Ignorance and denial. Would seem Texans do not really value kids under 12 that much.

Let’s expose em giddy up. SMH

I know all about Iraan, and I also know where it is and how to correctly pronounce the town name. They might have 70 students, so it doesn’t take much to get to 42%. In fact, they should all get it now and be good for the rest of the year.
If you want to cherry pick articles, then go for it. I’ll respond with an article in New York Magazine a couple of days ago. It states that “distancing, hybrid models, classroom barriers, HEPA filters, and most notably, requiring student masking were each found to not have a statistically significant benefit.” In fact, those blue masks you probably wear everyday showed AT BEST a 10% protection in transmission, much less in children.
By the way, that study was done by the CDC and released in May.
So unless you are wearing an N95 mask, you are basically wasting your time.
See, I can cherry pick as well.

See once again you are focusing on ” self “. Really I should not expect much more.

18 months into this an outward looking person would know the main purpose of masking is to protect others from you. Only truly effective if everyone buys in but the Tucker Carlson’s of the world prey on the selfishness and ignorance of the unwashed.

Want to know what being played for ratings and money really looks like?
Fox outwardly is anti -mask however behind the scenes in the control booth and offices, everyone is masked up . The Murdocks laugh all the way to the bank, but the gullible eat it up and then mini Trump demagogues like Abbott and DeSantis play to it.

Here is a little test even the simple minded can accomplish. Lite a candle place it 4 ft away and blow it out, now same distance put one of those blue masks on and try it. Lightbulb meet brainwashed.

Now if masks really had 0 benefit why in the world would a organization broadcasting their anti-mask rhetoric to trumpists of the world require their staff to mask behind the camera?? 0 Logic

Once again the more selfish and resistant a population group is, the less effective. My Asian friends ask me, are Americans really that ignorant or is it pure selfishness. Even a 25% effectiveness would safe 100,000s in the past 18 months. I really have no answer for them.

@LaBalaDePlata, no wasn’t talking to you. I was replying to JoseBatFlip.

This comment section have a bizarre way of replying to people so sorry. You’re alright by me.

While I’m here, it’s funny that the Covidiots are replying with “facts” that they got from their T.V., saying that it’s genuine and real while not actually listening to real science and facts that have debunked the “facts” they got from their T.V.

Ah, that’s a reason why they’re called “Covidiots” because they simply cannot be reasoned with, ignore real science and think they’re always right, even when presenting facts that shatters their belief that their T.V. is always right.

BTW, LaBalaDePlata, at the time of this post, they still don’t have an accurate test to determine whether one has the Delta variant, let alone Epilson, Psi, Lambda and whatever else. It has recently been revealed that people doing the PCR tests, have been doing it wrong. They kept on spinning more than 35 times until it returns “positive” but it’s actually a false positive, so they just used it to say, “Yup, you’re infected with the ‘Rona. You’re gonna die if we don’t put you on a bed, hook you up with a ventilator and siphon about 100,000 dollars out of you or your insurance company.”

It turned out what the actual PCR test says when one is “infected” was that they were infected with the influenza. When they got that result, they kept on spinning and spinning until it returned as “false positive”, which is usually done more than 35 times. So yeah, people were being lied to, unfortunately. It also was revealed that with the “cotton” swab that people get that’s being done nasally, the swab already had the “virus” on it so when they get swabbed, the virus get planted into the nasal passage and stays there until it mutates and develops, which gives them the ‘Rona. That’s the reason why I refuse to get the nose swab because I knew that’s how people were getting the virus.

Looks like the Covidiot’s narrative has been debunked and blown into pieces. Talking about a yuuuuuge yikes!

And would you rather be wrong and get it/spread it, or be wrong and unnecessarily wear a mask for the next six months and NOT get it/spread it?
