I would take Houston to win the WS over NYM, NYY, or LAD in a heartbeat.

But not over the surging Phillies. They honored the 1980 championship team today, and I remember the last time the Phillies and Astros met in the postseason. Just saying…..

I’d take the Astros over the Phillies as well, but I’m pretty pleased with how the Phillies are playing since Girardi’s firing.

Houston is in a class of their own until someone proves otherwise. There’s a reason they’ve been to the WS so much recently, and it isn’t just cheating.

The Phillies end the season with 3 games against the Astros. We will get a chance to see in any event.

A team that can trade a veteran starter in the middle of the season for a reliever and still essentially be 6 deep in starting Pitchers (McCullers back soon) is an elite team. They can beat you easily in a short series and a long series and thats with having almost 2 guaranteed outs at the bottom of their batting order for most of the season. Like the Astros or hate them, it’s hard not to root for Dusty to finally get a ring as a manager

Who knows. MLB playoffs is such a grind and crapshoot. Who thought that the Braves would have won the 2021 world series, except for of course their fans. Astros have just as good a chance as the top contenders. But if you gave me the Astros or remaining top 3, I’d take the remaining top 3 all day.

I would take the Mets or Dodgers over the Astros. As for the Yankees, I’m good if they never win again!

I think the Astros beat the Yankees. The Dodgers beat the Mets. But that’s the great part about that playoffs. You never know. Great teams like the Cardinals, Padres, Braves, Mariners, Blue Jays….. should be a great postseason.

Someone asked about sending Duran to AAA to work on his defense but at this juncture and with the team fading fast what would be the point? No Hernandez and JBJ released would push Jaylin Davis to be the regular in CF or force Verdugo to CF (neither scenario is ideal). Might as well let Duran get the experience while letting the team evaluate whether or not to continue with him next season or try to upgrade via free agency or trade

    Worth a re-post:

    Just Amazin’
9:53 Great chat Mark, but I hope you don’t end w/o acknowledging what deGrom did today prior to his last pitch. (Perfect through 5 2/3, 12K.) I’m a Boston fan yet I will tune in to Xm radio or MLB.tv whenever he pitches. Is there any other player not on your team that you or anyone in this chat can say that about?

In todays game its hard to think of anyone. But many moons ago Greg Maddux, Randy Johnson, Roger Clemens, and any of the A’s trio of Hudson/Mulder/Zito were definitely worth tuning in for

Dodgers have some tough decisions ahead in the offseason. Of course, some of it remains to be seen as to how 2022 plays out. Muncy and Bellinger. Trea Turner, Kershaw, Heaney and Anderson are also free agents.

Turner is the big one. If Kershaw wants to play next year the Dodgers will get it done. Muncy and Bellinger are both non-tender candidates. There is zero possibility of Heaney and Anderson duplicating what they are doing this season (even the Dodgers know that) and both will likely play elsewhere next season
