You should attempt to find someone to entertain your package so you have something to do with your time besides trolling on MLBTR with ignorant trade and FA ideas.

I just muted him. I couldn’t take it anymore. That guy has lost his marbles. Him and his insane Acuna and Ozuna obsession. Freakin weirdo.
cadagan
That guy is still around. Damn
RunDMC
Muted, but no affect on mobile app, unfortunately.
LordD99
I sent Tim a note asking if they intend to fix the mobile app. No response.

In reference to Ozuna, he has embarrassed the Braves org. & his smile (smirk) disgusts me. I really hope they find a way to rid themselves of this cancer.
BeansforJesus
The thing that annoys me about Ozuna is the fact he packs a lip so dang full it looks like his lower lip is pregnant with triplets. Like each pouch is a single use for this dude.
Is this guy so nicotine dependent that he needs a bowling ball size lip every minute of the game?
Mercenary.Freddie.Freeman
@beans. I think the amount of spitballs I’ve seen Dusty Baker expel is quite disgusting as well.

I said it before, if need be pay the fine. In a Division with the Mets/Phillies sitting on your hands isn’t going to work. They built the team the right way with homegrown talent and for the most part made good trades and FA signings. However, this “ close to Luxury Tax threshold without even making a move” talk and trade Ronald and Fried for a bag of balls and a player to be named later is utterly ridiculous. Braves Country shows up to Truist 3 Million in attendance in 22. New TV deal in a few years that will certainly be in the top 3 payouts to the club. This isn’t the Minnesota Twins, Baltimore Orioles, Tampa Bay Rays it’s the Atlanta Braves which reside in the business capital of the south.

What do you think about Liberty spinning off the Braves as its own publicly traded company? At heart, don’t we all want to own the Braves, since we clearly know best? Now’s our chance!
RunDMC
Sounds a bit like that gimmicky buy an overpriced brick with your family name to pay for our construction. Best thing I see is that it could instill some confidence for Liberty to sell, since they were referencing other teams on the trade block they feel strongly they’d have a higher valuation. If they are considering selling, you may see increased spending to justify a higher ask especially going into a new TV deal.

“[But] what it does mean is if somewhere down the road the team is to ever be sold, we can avoid corporate-level tax,” Liberty Media CEO Greg Maffei told Sportico during a break at the company investor meeting. “We have no plans to [sell], but the opportunity for an investor to purchase or come and look is probably cleaner now.”
They’re doing/ done it with F1, Live Nation and Sirius XM among others.
I genuinely don’t get all the hate they get from the fans. They aren’t anywhere close to being a bad owner. If you’re mad they don’t sign any of the mega-free agents I’d like to point you to the Los Angeles Angels Of Aneheim.

Not saying I know what’s best, I believe AA has done a tremendous job of getting players to “buy in” and leaving dollars on the table to be apart of of a winning team and creating that same culture. Spending just to spend is obviously not a good idea. The CBT is based on AAV of entire deal not actual salary. Take the Strider and Harris deals salaries don’t take huge jumps until a few years from now. With the income that will be coming in they are positioned to be aggressive. The publicly traded decision by LM is to gauge interest. This is the first step towards a sale. It would be the first time ever tried in MLB and I don’t know how the other 31 teams will feel about it. But I think LM has seen what is going on in the NFL with Denver, now the Commanders and the prices these organizations are going for and they are making a “business” decision. Hell if the share is right I’ll purchase a piece to add to my portfolio.

There’s been a Braves stock since 2016. This is just converting it to a different type of stock so they can avoid corporate income tax if they do sell it.

Agree DMC, increased future revenue stream with current valuation of other franchises has them thinking long term going forward. There are a few billionaires out there that would bite. Arthur Blank has in the past expressed interest and let’s be honest, Braves have generated more interest on a annual basis than the Hawks and Falcons
RunDMC
Yeah, Braves have generated more interest despite Falcons essentially running them out of town to the ‘burbs, where they have gotten a lot of flack, but already looks like a winning move considering interest/profitability. But who would have thought building a park in the middle of their fanbase, that also happens to be the wealthiest county in the state would do that??
I’m skeptical the answer is a deep-pocketed owner like Blank. I appreciate his fervor, but ATL with their corporate owners have more trophies than Blank Check and their $2 billion bird’s nest. Maybe with deeper pockets and a calculating FO headed by AA or someone similar could be interesting. But there’s something less fulfilling about winning a championship with the highest payroll in MLB, for whatever reason.

Did not know that Liberty Media is thinking about a sale of the Braves.
The Royals were sold recently. Their owner was a minority owner in Cleveland. To get another minority owner, Cleveland had in give him the option of buying the franchise in 5 years. The Nationals are up for sale. The Angels are exploring a sale. The Orioles ownership is a family, they’re squabbling in court and the mother has made it clear she’d like to sell sooner rather than later.
Yet I read here how franchises are making money hand over fist and the owners don’t do anything for it. They just sail around the world on their yachts without a care in the world, buying up any play toys that strike their fancy and paying for it on the backs of their players that are being exploited and oppressed.
The reality is that running an MLB team is time consuming and full of liabilities. For the large and many mid-market teams it’s better to have a financial behemoth own it, as they’re chock full of lawyers and financial people. Small market and most mid-market teams do not bring in the cash flow that the financial powerhouses can play with to turn a profit that justifies the time and money they constantly need to invest in it.
I’m partial to the owners left that run their own franchises. They have ties to the area and know the importance the public puts on their team. Once the outside money people come in at some point it’ll turn into politics and power plays.

Excellent discussion! I’ve been reading since 2005 and definitely see the value of the membership (just subscribed). Hopefully the SS sweepstakes don’t drag on too far. Looking at the potential of the rotation, I hadn’t considered the depth we have. I would love deGrom, but seems the focus is SS, LF, BP pieces and an hope for a Fried extension.

We’re not gonna be able to offload Ozuna unless we include 1/2 the money and a prospect.
Dansby is gone, career year & contract year happen at the same time……
Hate to say this, but we have a catching surplus. D’arnaud could easily be traded.
If we could offload 1/2 Ozuna & D’arnaud contract we’d have some wiggle room. Hard look at locking up Fried and filling out the bench/bullpen.

Liberty owns the Braves. They also own the Live Nation concert ticket monopoly and just made a fortune scalping
Taylor Swift tickets so I bet the payroll goes up…..

Just read the transcript of the chat. And noticed the “dye should never have been traded” commentor. I guess it’s been so long I forgot about the Dye trade. Which turned out to be quite a bad trade for the Braves. They would’ve been a even better team in the late 90’s had they held onto Dye.
bhambrave
Braves should have held on to Wainwright.
Mercenary.Freddie.Freeman
I agree bham.

“This was by far the most attended team chat I’ve done yet”
Great job Braves Nation, as we always do, great way to represent the Atlanta Braves and its fanbase..

Like I said numerous times. Braves Country is REAL! This isn’t just some nice slogan someone made up and it stuck. I’m from the TBS Superstation era where the Bravos were on every night at 7:35. In 21 at the World Series in Truist, I met Braves fans from LA to Chicago, Dallas TX and so on. This year I was at every Braves Mets in Truist and Braves Country again showed up and showed out. When they turn those lights off and you see the wave of phones chopping in no doubt gets in the head off the other team. I’ve been to numerous ballparks across the country and it’s just not same. Damn I miss baseball and can’t wait to get back to Truist.
